Very capable and value to the money
I have an older laptop that supports 2.4GHz only. It was working fine till about two weeks ago, my wifi connection suddenly got terribly choppy, most likely due to a new wifi extender installed by my neighbor. Having only 3 non-overlapping channels (1, 7, 15), 2.4GHz band is too crowded to find a clear channel, so I decided to migrate all my other devices to use the 5GHz band only where I have tons of choices. That's when I realized I have to get a new usb-to-wifi NIC that supports 5GHz for my poor trusty old laptop.I did not notice the tiny CD-ROM that came with the product, and had to rescue it from my recycle bin. The software installation went smoothly, and the wifi interface was functional right away.I was initially worried about only having USB2 ports on my laptop, but it did not affect my use of application eventually. Even though the NIC claims to be connected at 520mbps in TX/RX, my ISP only has 50/3 mbps in DS/US, and my local file server is only capable of around 80 mbps, so the USB2 limit of around 400mbps is not my bottle neck.Right after installing all the drivers, watching youtube or browsing web was perfectly fine, until I need to use a Remote Desktop connection over wifi. I noticed that every 5-6 seconds, the screen from my remote PC would freeze for about 1.5 seconds. Sure enough, my ping test to the wifi AP would give me a 1500+ ms of rtt every 5 to 6 samples. That was not acceptable. I was fiddling with all the mode combinations and disable/enable cycles to no avail, until a simple reboot solved it.Hope the performance would hold over time. Otherwise I will sure to come back and update the review.Update:It turned out to be one of my Windows applications (FF) consuming too much system resource. Guess I keep too many youtube tabs open. :D Once I close and restart that application, the delay disappears and would be fine for a long while.

Easy to install and works great
I bought this to replace a damaged LAN cable in the wall. My office is on the second floor and the router is in the basement. I had doubts on how this adapter would perform.Installation was simple and easy. Directions are simple and straightforward. I plugged the adapter in to the BACK of my desktop CPU, and within ten minutes, I was up and running again. I currently have a 2 year old generic CPU running Windows 10. The signal from the basement router is excellent, and the speed performance seems to be faster than with the CAT-5e cable!I highly recommend this adapter to anyone that needs a wireless connection for their desktop computer!

Simple To Use
I was helping my mom get a faster connection and so I bought this to replace her old Belkin wifi adapter she had been using. Her internet connection with frontier is supposed to be about 150 Mbps but the Belkin adapter only could use about 15-20 Mbps. Plugged in this adapter and it was so easy. It came with a little CD-ROM and an instruction booklet to install drivers, but I didn't end up needing either of those. I just plugged it into the USB on her PC and it worked. I did a speed test and she was getting 140-160 Mbps (which is just fluctuation in speed from her ISP.) It works well and has a solid antenna that can be moved to different directions which is cool. The Belkin adapter is probably going in the trash. I'll update this review if it fails

Good value for your bucks
I ordered this wifi adapter after I disconnected my home PC from an ethernet cable hooked to my wireless router, and found that I couldn't connect to the internet anymore. The adapter looks exactly as pictured, but is somewhat smaller than I expected. However, it worked fine after I installed it. I'm dinging the rating by a star because the quick-start instructions weren't quite right, although as this is not my first rodeo, I was able to figure things out (that and it's a wireless adapter, not exactly rocket-level technology). As I said, it works very well, and I have a router that broadcasts on both the 5G and 2.4G formats, and this adapter worked well with both (as advertised). Four stars

Plug and Play
I recently had to renovate my family room, so had to move my desktop to the other side of the house. It was an older PC, so it didn't have a WiFi adapter. I got this adapter and it worked out perfectly. I was back online in seconds on my Windows 10 PC, as the device was picked up immediately with the proper drivers installed. It pairs up well with my 802.11ac Access Point @ 5 Ghz and my connection has been solid with the speed I'd expect. In terms of design, I really can't complain about the size. It's just about the length of my hand and slim. The antenna is 4.5 inches and adjustable with a 90 degree tilt and 360 swivel. So far so good. Definitely a good purchase!

Great at first but.....
So I ordered this for a new PC build that i had started working on.Setup was straight forward, although i had to use an external cd drive as I had no internet connection (of course).Once up and running i got some superb download speeds and was very impressed overall. But a month in and i started getting some issues.I kept getting connection drops. After a long stint on the router admin page and making slight changes to WIfi and QOS settings (i switched to a perm 5GHZ signal) i noticed a slight performance boost. I even went and searched for the updated drivers, harder than it looks for this device by the way. Once i updated them i felt there was some performance increase. But i kept getting connection drops. This was a real pain while playing games. Constant Dsynch issues meant i would lose out and had various deaths online due to connection drops. They progressively got worse and then didnt and then did.Eventually i had enough. After trying various tricks on the router and even moving my wifi box closer to no positive result, I ordered a EDUP after seeing someone review various wifi dongles / antennas and have to say I have had no issues thus far with the EDUP. AND it was cheaper and smaller in size!!Its a shame as this started off good and held a lot of promise. But it just took a nose dive when i needed it most.Avoid
