Price to performance KING, Plug and play no bloatware, better than keyboards 3 times the price
I was very surprised with how well this keyboard preforms, it's almost silent and for a membrane I find the responsiveness to be very satisfying, I only bought this because the price was un beatable and I was coming from a 180 dollar razer keyboard and let me tell you I fully switched to the steel series , it feels better to use while gaming in my opinion and totally changed my view on spending 100s on a gaming keyboard , I also love how it is basically plug and play , no software is needed , I find the colors to be clean and aesthetically pleasing on the eyes , also the individual keys are luminated perfectly unlike my razer keyboard , it's also light weight and even so it doesn't move under constant pressure , I actually prefer the rubberized hand rest to my leather razer one, all in all you can't beat the price to performance here , like most reviews on here with this keyboard this thing rocks, I also don't review many items but this keyboard deserves it .

My favorite keyboard
Still one of my best keyboards I have owned. Between school, and gaming I have yet to find a keyboard that is as comfortable, and perfectly tactile while using. The wrist rest sets up your wrist angle at an appropriate level, and the keys have a nice rebound feeling to them without being too loud or tough to depress. The RGB illumination is great and blends well with my laptop's backlit keyboard, I even got the LED cycling to mirror the lights on my laptop perfectly because of how customizable they are. I gave my last one to my wife because I wanted to switch up my keyboard, ended up regretting it and will likely order another one!

Check the Dimensions for your Gaming/ Work Space!
I hated having to return this because this keyboard looks great and felt *so good* to use. The keys were buttery smooth and had a nice texture to their surface. The wrist rest was also very comfortable as well. Unfortunately, what I did not take into consideration when I selected this keyboard is it's overall height; this keyboard is *thiiiiiccc.* I suspect this probably wouldn't be an issue for most people but my desk has a slide out keyboard tray where I need to be able to stow the keyboard when not in use and putting it anywhere else was going to disrupt my work space. Despite that, I considered keeping it anyway but I just could not justify spending 50 dollars on a keyboard that was going to require workarounds. Bottom Line: My initial impressions are that it is very good, but make sure you consider all the dimensions when you have limited space!

Don't want a loud keyboard? You want this....
I have been using the same Logitech wireless keyboard for somewhere around 12 years. My 8 month old has decided that it is very fun to play with that one. So I was in the market for a much needed upgrade and replacement. PROS: The keys have good travel and are, more importantly, not crazy loud. They do have an soft click to them that is satisfying for use typing or playing games but without the click is dampened to the point that, if you wish to type quietly, this is possible by just not pressing so hard. When you are putting alittle more force into the typing, say something intense is happening in your game, they are audible and clear. The keys and wrist rest are made of a very finely textured soft touch plastic, while the body is made of harder plastic. This offers stiffer construction so the board does not flex at all under normal use, while being easy on the hands to use for extended periods of time. RGB is bright and adjustable via the SteelSeries GG application which will sync the lighting to all SteelSeries devices if you so wish to. I use a Rival 3 mouse which has an illuminated scroll wheel RGB. Colors between the two match perfectly. The media controls are very handy. By default the wheel rolls to change volume and clicks in to mute while the button acts as play/pause. Key brightness can be controlled by pressing the SteelSeries key (located to the left of the right CTRL key and then pressing F11 or F12 for down and up respectively. There are 10 levels of brightness. CONS: It does not have a wireless which is ok but is something to note. The play/pause media button is illuminated and does not change from white. To be expected at this price point the RGB is sectioned equally off to 10 vertical zones. When the backlight is not on they keys are very hard to see. Overall this keyboard checks all the boxes for an all around winner. Soft on the hands. Quality construction. Enough RGB to please everyone but the most extreme RGB heads. Media controls are quick and easy to get to. I will be sending one of these to my buddy who is in need of an upgrade also.

Almost perfect -1 star for for forced account requirement
UPDATE: 1/10/24 - Long term comment here - I love this keyboard, buying one for my wife now... It has been working flawlessly for over 1 year now without a single hiccup and gaming every night!! Originally purchased Nov '22 - I highly recommend this product! ************************************************** I am not easily impressed and i am not one who would normally spend $50 on a keyboard... This is my first product from Steel Series Let me just get this 1 Major Negative out of the way first. This prevented a 5-star review that i nearly never give <sigh> 1. The default light pattern is RGB and you have little control out of the box, at best you can control the speed at which the color changed across the zones. Quick google search said you need to install the OEM software to get more control over the colors. Hmm, i wasn't pleased about that but so be it, a lot of OEMs do it and its just more crap running on your pc to slow it down.. 2. Software installed was 270MB, pretty darn big TBH, It installed tons of irrelevant stuff for products i do not own.. This could certainly have been done better. 3. YOU MUST CREATE AN ACCOUNT with Steel Series to change anything about your product!!!! WHY??? Just another account username and password to track just so i can set a static color??? **On the bright side, the control software Does Not need to run to keep your color settings, i do suspect if you use the other feature the software provides then you may have to have the software running in the background. OK, that is the ONLY gripe i have so far, Tempted to give a 3- star but that would be me placing too much weight on something that really annoys me and not fair to this product. So, What is good about this item? Taking the software issue out of the equation, it would be a 5 star product for sure. The only thing that would make it better is a lower price. I had just a few simple requirements for my keyboard and this fits perfectly. - Quiet - I hate the clackity clack typing sound especially when gaming - Backlit - I hate RGB and rolling RGB on a keyboard, i find it distracting. I like a nice soft glow to illuminate the keys so i can see the letters in the dark. I used to use blue or purple but have settled on red these past few years. - Compact, but full keyboard layout (108 keys?) - I hate big @$$ keyboards with tons of buttons, switches and misc. macro keys. Yes they have their purpose and are useful to some people, guess I'm getting old an traditional. - Durability - Who doesn't want that??? Side note, Ergonomics IMHO is a personal preference but i kind of feel like the buttons are too high against the base but the keypresses are solid and actuation defined like when pulling the trigger on a quality firearm, you barely feel the slack being taken up and the you get a crisp break of the trigger. Very light keys with positive stroke, it's just good, end of story. All boxes checked with this keyboard - Durability TBD but it feels pretty solid so far. Backlight can be very dim or resemble the surface of the sun (not quite but it is bright). I know they call it "Steel Series" but this thing as some weight to it, it's not heavy but it is clearly not just a block of super thin/cheap plastic.. I have not thoroughly explored the software capability but a brief romp around the menu's looks to be extremely inclusive and a similar type ecosystem to Corsair's iCue ecosystem which allows the software to interface and control all aspects of the OEM's product line. I found a lack of details or explanations for some of the features but not to terrible, most options are pretty straight forward. I believe in HONEST reviews and this has been my honest review that i almost didn't do but morally i have to give credit to Steel Series on a good product, they earned that much especially since this is the first product of theirs i have ever purchased.

Perfect keyboard for dark settings
As a Keyboard snob and a very hard keyboard user, I really like this keyboard and this company overall. It has a nice break for each key and while the typing is not whisper quiet, it is much less than a cherry red mechanical. I can touch type easily and quickly as everything is where it should be. I also have a older Apex 5 keyboard with the Cherry Brown keys I believe - great keyboard as well, but noisy. I think this Apex 3 is superior in feel and typeability. I have never used the wrist rest before on any keyboards due to my very large hands, but this time I gave it a go, and it really improved the overall feel through my wrists. I am now a believer in the hard smooth angled wrist rests One thing I really like about this keyboard is that you can get the white LEDs pretty bright so that I can program without overhead lighting and never not see the keys - it is bright enough and it looks legit while being bright. I am too old for the RGB effects, just give me bright white keys! On my Apex 5, I wore the keys to a high shine and it still hasn't missed a beat. Steel series knows how to put out a extremely useable, high quality product every time. I have had virtually all the big names keyboards and they all have their charms, but for reliability and quality, none has surpassed this manufacturer in my experience, although some have equaled it. From a dollars and cents standpoint - this is a excellent value!

My favorite
As someone who spends a lot of time gaming, I tried the SteelSeries Apex 3 RGB Gaming Keyboard, and I must say, I am very impressed with its features and performance. The first thing that caught my attention about this keyboard is its sleek and modern design. The keyboard has a smooth matte finish, and the keys have a soft and comfortable feel when typing or gaming. It's also equipped with 10-zone RGB lighting, which allows you to customize the lighting effects and colors to your liking. One of the standout features of the SteelSeries Apex 3 RGB Gaming Keyboard is its durability. The keyboard is built with a water-resistant design, which means that it can withstand accidental spills and splashes without damaging the keyboard's internal components. This feature provides a sense of security and peace of mind, especially for those who like to enjoy snacks or drinks while gaming. The keyboard is also equipped with silent gaming switches that are rated for up to 20 million keypresses. These switches provide a satisfying tactile response while also remaining quiet, which is ideal for gaming environments where you don't want to disturb others. Another notable feature of the SteelSeries Apex 3 RGB Gaming Keyboard is its dedicated media controls, which allow you to adjust the volume, play/pause, skip tracks, and mute the audio without having to leave your game. This feature is very convenient and allows you to easily manage your media while focusing on your game. Overall, I would highly recommend the SteelSeries Apex 3 RGB Gaming Keyboard to anyone looking for a reliable and durable gaming keyboard that delivers great performance and customization options. With its water-resistant design, silent gaming switches, and dedicated media controls, it's definitely worth considering for your next gaming setup.

perfect for me
love it. it is comfortable to type and it is not as noisy as my previous mechanical keyboard. works well with my Macbook. i dont really do gaming on the pc, but appreciate the software to upload games captured direct to youtube. the only thing I cant figure yet out is to link spotify to the keyboard shortcut. it is now linked to the stock music software. overall happy with the purchase. i might get one more for the office!

Love it
Needed a new key board and highly impressed with this model from Steel, the keys are back lit nicely and have very positive movement too, decently priced.

Great value. Feels premium.
This is one of the most affordable RGB keyboards under recognised brands and for the price I paid, I think it is totally worth it. The material feels quite premium, and so is the detachable hand rest is really nice. The keys are just right (not too hard, not too soft) to press and are fairly quiet. The software also allows some key customisation. A few things I wish were better; - the caps lock indicator light is very small, and located only on the top right corner, hard to see behind the keys. So if you toggle caps lock on and off frequently, it might be difficult to know if it's caps locked. - the RGB lights are zonal and you cannot assign individual key colours. But for the price, I wouldn't complain about it. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

Great for a teen
I bought this for my teenage son for his gaming rig. It looks great and the RGB matches his mouse and fans. The keyboard is solid as you would expect from the brand. The keyboard has been used daily for a few months now and it's shown no issues.
