I love them, but they may be killing my tank
These are beautiful, give lots of extra surface area for bio filtration, make excellent hiding places and ladders, and they look absolutely beautiful... But, they need to be soaked prior to putting them in the tank so that they will sink and, more importantly, they have made my tank incredibly cloudy. There is a living layer of gel coating them all at least 2mm thick. Clear and white. It took a day to for this to happen. Both the gel and the cloudy water. The fish do not seem to mind, but I have hardy fish that are used to living in tough conditions in the wild. After almost two weeks(and a large container of activated carbon directly in the tank), the water is getting slightly clearer and the bio film on these is getting a little bit thinner. I probably should have soaked these to death before putting them in. With aquarium water from a well established tank with some of the substrate taken out and put into the soaking vessel, not tap or even dechlorinated water. So that the bio film could eat all of whatever is feeding it. I have no algae eaters, plecos, ottos, shrimp, or even snails, so I don't know if it would be any different with something like that in the tank, but the only difference I could see happening is that the bio film would get eaten. I will post an update when the water clears or if it never does.Update: They have stopped making my water cloudy as of a day ago, but they are now slowly disintegrating. Apparently they can't withstand standard freshwater tank microorganisms

Perfect!
Absolutely love these! Perfect for what i wanted in my aquarium. True to sizeFRIENDLY REMINDER!!***ALWAYS BOIL YOUR WOOD BEFORE USE***Boiling your wood removes excess tannins that can change your waters color, as well as can slightly alter Ph. It helps with the wood sinking, rather than floating AND most importantly IT KILLS BAD BACTERIA THAT CAN KILL OR CAUSE SICKNESS FOR YOUR FISH ETC.

Cherry Shrimp Love It!
These worked great for my cherry shrimp and looked good doing it. The variety I got in my pack wasn't bad at all, only one of the pieces was thin but the other 2 made up for it big time. If I do another shrimp tank i would buy a few more bags of these.

work needed to prepare the wood
When i looked through other reviews and comments, I expected to get similar looking wood to the display and other reviews. The product arrived and only 1 out of 3 were similar. The other 2 needed work, the 2 needed heavy cleaning. Boiled both multiple times, used pipe cleaners, small drills, and some small picks to clear open the holes. the results did not come out as large as the displays and some others. There was still the bark from the tree still stuck on and had to shave off with a box cutter. The overall purposes worked at the end after using small drill bits and a filing tool.
