This is good book and very easy to follow. It gives you a step by step on how to draw with the different pencil shades as well as watercolors to use. Its easy to follow along and paint during the process.

I need something show me the strokes necessary for painting florals, this book is mostly for drawing! Not what I wanted.

This is NOT a step by step manual, but with patience it can easily be used as a template for success. The Illustrations are beautifully rendered. I have been working on creating botanical illustrations/rendering (graphite, colored and watercolor pencils, pen & ink and watercolor) for over 10 years. I draw SOMETHING every day and advise everyone interested in ANY artistic expression to create SOMETHING every day. Sketchbooks are not generally made public, but you can celebrate the improvement in your artistic devotion as it is transformed!

She is excellent at breaking down various botanical processes. This book is a great resource with wonderful examples created in a variety of media. Organized in a way to lead and inspire the drawings of botanicals. Ms. Kluglein's illustrations are full of life and beauty. The book covers techniques and teachings in a way that teaches beyond what is expected. The examples are clear and thoughtful, yet encourage me to stretch my abilities. Each chapter has many levels of teachings. A great book for the novice and experienced artist. `

The book begins with the typical tools, and first steps then continues with excellent step by step tutorials with lots of photos but what really makes this book stand out is “Essential Painting Techniques” which includes a section on correcting mistakes! I have not found this type of support in other botanical art books. I highly recommend it.

I had bought this book particularly for watercolours however as there is a little bit on each different medium, I found this also to be a great bonus! A lot of really great tips and very helpful sections explaining colour mixing, techniques and composition etc. This book is really informative and has some great little exercises to follow which you can apply to your own paintings as opposed to completing long, detailed tutorials, so I really prefer.. A lot of books can sometimes be either a gallery of the artist’s work or very long reading on each topic, but this book explains everything very clearly and concisely and has beautiful illustrations to explain. One of my favourite books so far!

OMG this is a must have book for everyone!! This book is illustrated so beautifully and detailed and packed full of very helpful tips and information. At first I was a little hesitant because it was more expensive than I really wanted to pay, HOWEVER, I am so thankful I did buy It! It sits on my desk every day for inspiration even when I'm not using it. Gorgeous book!!!

A good book especially for anyone new to botanical watercolour painting. The emphasis seems to be on the preliminary steps with regard to washes and effects, the all important stages. I would recommend this book and particularly the online version.
