Optimus Portable Utility Heater with Thermostat (Full Size)

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my father and I couldn't be more pleased with it. It has an automatic shut off for safety, keeps the space he is heating warm, and has a function that allows for it to cycle on and off again to keep a room warm but not too hot. Excellent value for the money, I will be ordering him one more for Father's Day!

Ordered two of these units and returned them both due to the same defect. The thermostats are very imprecise and erratic in operation which results in a constant and rapid cycle of stops and starts with the fan and heating element seldom reaching full heat or RPMs before cycling off again. This is on a 20 amp dedicated circuit with 12-2 copper wiring. I owned a pair of heaters identical to these { except for the color and a heavier three prong power cord } that I purchased at a home center and they served me well for over five years.

I end up having to buy one of these every year or two for the bathroom in my finished basement. There are a few manufactures that produce heaters that all look like this one, and so far this one has operated per design presenting no quality issues. I believe you get what you pay for and industrial heaters of this design are not expensive. With that said, I would buy this again when I need to replace it. Other brands have developed noisy rattling fans that have caused my wife to refer to them a tractors. This one however has maintained quiet operation up until this point. Will heat a 10x12 room if moderately insulated easily.

My aunt had one for decades in her back bathroom. I bought this sas a backup in case of need. I just opened the new box after 2 years on the shelf, had it in my basement 12x12 workroom and turned on low to keep newly hatched ducklings warm. ⁸ It would come on and off as designed. But it died after 4 days! There is no resetting it or other means to make it operational. Very disappointed. Made in China sticker says it all.

Have had this for 24 hours. A space (20'x30') that 3 heaters had trouble heating last year was no prob for this. Not hot but comfortable. I am in love. Hope it is durable and long lasting!!!!

This heater stopped working in December, past return dateI took it to an electrician who said power was not connecting to heat control knob.
