a little fussing required
Overall, I'm fairly pleased with this punch- it's very sturdy, it punches out sharp photo corners from cardstock and regular weight paper with a perfectly creased/embossed folding line. It's essential for making your own "old-school" style photo corners (meaning, not the ones that are decoration, but corners that actually HOLD a photo in place on a page). There's two things I don't like about the punch- the first is that because of the embossing aspect, the bottom of the punch isn't open like some of the other Martha Stewart punches. So if you want to get a precise area of paper in the punch for the corner, or use paper resourcefully to get the most punches from a sheet, you have to guesstimate where to punch. Also, you have to put in pattered paper upside down to get the photo corner right side up (so that the embossed fold is in the right direction). Also, the photo corners are fussy. The back edges don't quite meet up, so there's no easy way to seal the photo corners and adhere them to a background paper before inserting your photo into them. I wound up just leaving them flat, putting glue stick all over one side, and then folding them over the edge of the photo. It took more work than I expected.Overall, I am pleased- I wanted to be able to do a little "old school" scrapbooking (mounting photos on a page) as well as inserting smaller pieces of artwork into a larger sketchbook, and this punch helps me do that.

Leaves slices in the paper
I never leave reviews but this product is not only horrible, the return process is excruciating. The punch leaves slices in the paper. When you try to return via the amazon website, it links you to the Martha Stewart page of contact info. When you do an online chat with customer service, it connects you to their return dept which charges you $1 to chat with them (they say is fully refundable but I got out and contacted amazon). I am waiting for the company to return the email the amazon rep sent. unreal!

Cannot recommend
I ordered this because the other low priced option on Amazon ships from Japan and I wanted it sooner. It is adequate in that it sharply cuts rounded corners. Downsides are: it only cuts one radius, and it is difficult to align the paper correctly (you cannot see the paper in the cutter and the alignment guides are too short for easy alignment). The result is thatif the paper is even slightly out of alignment you will end up with an over cut and notch on one side of the cut. Later I bought the Sun-Star Kadomoru cutter on Amazon and like it much better because it gives a choice of three cutting radii and is slightly easier to align. If you do a lot of this sort of thing in binding sketchbooks you might want to invest in a professional model (~$200+).

Corner or freestanding butterfly punch supreme...
Super easy to use, with extremely smooth punching action, plus versatility as it will not only make a beautifully placed corner butterfly punch (which lines up perfectly with slide out guide arms), but also, with just two minor snips, it can be turned into a freestanding butterfly, ready for placement on your paper, canvas, card, or scrapbook page with a tiny glue dot. The butterfly is quite delicate looking, but looks are delightfully deceiving in this case, as it holds up quite nicely, having generous edges so sturdy enough for multi-handling whether you are repositioning, glueing, floating in wax, or making a transfer. If you find other uses, or have any tips or hints, won't you please let me know?Compare with the larger MS monarch butterfly punch which I have also reviewed.Β Martha Stewart Crafts Large Punch, Monarch Butterfly

but it seems like I have to place the paper in the right ...
I've never used one of these before and I expected it would be simple to punch out a rounded corner, but it seems like I have to place the paper in the right spot otherwise it doesn't make a clean punch. Now I use it upside down so I can see that the paper is lined up and that still doesn't always work. It could just be me. It does feel like a good quality though.

Very useful for completing a large project.
Ordered 3 & used them to complete Wedding Programs for my daughter's wedding. They worked very well when doing 1 sheet at a time. I wish they would have worked better with 2 pages since we were gluing 2 sheets together. Would recommend buying this item with the knowledge that you can only punch one page at a time. FYI: we were using card stock craft paper.

Martha Stewart Crafts Embossed Punch Photo Corner, Medium
After purchasing photo corners from different sources and being disappointed I ordered Martha Stewart's Photo Corner punch. I'm very pleased with this punch. It creates nice clean photo corners and it's easy to use. MS photo corners are medium size and I like the fold lines that produce the look of the original old photo corners. I've added an image for those that would like to see the size of the finished corners. I like the ability to make my own photo corners so much that I also purchased the larger EK Success Paper Shapers Large Photo Corner Scallop Punch. The EK punch creates lovely photo corners, it doesn't have fold lines, it is much larger and punches both corner options each time you us it. I'm very happy with both of these punches.

Poor cuts (update: then it BROKE-used for 10 minutes!?)
Deserves 1-star but was cheap. Can only cut one sheet of paper and glad I started my Christmas cards early so I have rime to order a better product. That's what I got for going CHEAP.Don't buy.UPDATE: I tried to corner cut some lightweight construction paper after my initial review...then the handle got loose and my Mr. Fix It hubby looked at it and said it's broken. He took me to local craft shop to buy another but that one wasn't that great so I did replacement request with Amazon. Maybe should have asked for refund.11/2016 UPDATE: The replacement is fine SO FAR. Thanks Amazon! The price has dropped again so Imordered 2 more. IT IS the best size, shape, ergo corner punch so for $5.00, if it lasts the season, is OK. Too bad it's made so you can't take it apart to fix.
