Numark iDJ Live II | DJ Controller for Mac, PC, iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch (USB, Lightning and 30-pin)

Let me put a few things in perspective here before I start.I am a returning DJ. I started DJing in the 70s using a pair of Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables paired with Shure M 97 cartridges. A pair of phase linear 400 power amps and the 4000 preamp. I retired from professional DJing in the mid 90s. I came out of retirement for a brief period in late 2003/2004 during which time I played around with the Numark CDN 90. This unit made a great impression on me. This review however is not about the CDN 90. It is about the Numark IDJ LIVE 2, so let me get on with it.I received the controller about a month ago. It worked right out of the box, no problems whatever. I wanted to spend some time with it, put it through its paces, do a few gigs and see how it holds up before I post a review. I must point out I am 59 years old and I quit the club DJ scene many years ago. I now mostly do old school back in times house parties, wedding receptions, that sort of thing.I bought this unit to see if I still 'got it' and if I could get back in the DJ game. The unit is very basic in function and features but what it can do it does well. I can do some scratching, beat matching and looping with it. I use it with a MacBook Pro and a pair of powered boxes.At first glance when you take the controller out of the the box it appears to be light and flimsy, don't be fooled it is a very functional unit. It might not stand up to the roughing up of the club scene, it was not designed for that. I think this unit was made for the beginner DJ who wants to test the waters before spending a lot of money on one of the higher priced controllers.I just love this controller and I use it all the time, when I am not out on a gig I hook up a set of headphones to my iPad and I practice. It works on my iPad, and my windows (7) desktop as well. The included software , Virtual DJ LE is very easy to use and works well on my MacBook and PC. On the iPad I use a software called dejay which is available on the Apple AppStore.In closing let me say I am so impressed with this unit that it has whetted my appetite for bigger things. I ordered the Numark mixtrack pro. When I have played around with that a bit I will write a review.

Super dope and easy to use with the iPad .. Although I downloaded the software for my mac and couldn't upload itunes files through it to play.. Other than that it's a good travel size and they should stock them in more stores. I look toward to purchasing the idj pro model mixer in the near future because more of the controls are actually on the board and not in hidden buttons which could delay when spinning live at a party

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT! Check first the Numark forum to see many problems of compatibility with opereations systems of Mac and PC. Numark reconized by email that the product needs to be REPLACED:"I’m sorry to hear you’re having troubles with your new product. Based on the symptoms you described, it seems your item needs to be repaired/replaced. Depending on the circumstances, it can sometimes be easier to deal with the retailer who sold you the item to exchange the unit. However, if you have already moved past that option, we can start the RMA process for a repair/replacement now."...

good entry level decks if you want to learn beginner style, if you are more advanced it will bore you quickly as the mapping to djay algoriddim doesnt translate well you have to do some midi mapping. not pro gear by any means but good for fun easy going practice

Hardware operates, but has glitches operating with software, levels on software does not automatically adjust to equalizers on actual deck

Love my new board. It is awesome. Easy set up and works great. I saw a picture of the one with the blue trim, but I didn't have the option to get that. That's my only issue. The unit works great with my ipad and iPod. Haven't figured hou how to have it to link with my Virtual DJ as yet, but will keep trying. Did I say I love this unit? Yes, I love this unit. The iDjay2 program is off the chain and with this unit...it's "Off The Chain"

This controller is great for the price. It is obviously not meant to be a pro quality piece, and that's the beauty of it. It is meant to be able to to get physical controls to people who are starting to learn how to DJ for a very affordable price. The controller itself is made of hard plastic and a sort touch plastic on the decks, also for being plastic it feels very sturdy. If you are interested in learning how to dj this is the controller for you

Not much functionality, but you get what you pay for. It works with Both Djay and VirtualDJ software quite well. No complaints and amazingly fast and well packaged shipping. Numark, as always, delivers for the price.

Love this unit as getting back in DJ ing so perfect to practice on also I'm using it with djay2 with Spotify on iPad down side to this is you will need to either get a dedicated powered USB or a soundcard lime m audio or traktor but it's a beginners device so will commit to djpro or traktor pro and get a device to match anyway

iPhoneSEに繋げて使っています機能は少ないですが、簡単で使いやすいですまた軽いので外でも使えるのが嬉しいですね

Mein iPad Air wurde sofort erkannt und hat mit der Software funktioniert. Weiter habe ich nicht getestet da das Gerät für mich untauglich ist: Es verfügt über keinen separaten Netz-Lade-Anschluss. Das heisst es wird vom iPad gespeist. In diesem Augenblick ist der Lightning Anschluss vom iPad allerdings durch den Stecker von DJ Controller belegt, eine Ladung des iPad ist also wärend der Mucke nicht möglich und wer kann es sich leisten mitten drin 'ne Pause zu machen und den Gästen zu sagen dass das iPad erstmal geladen werden muss bevor es weiter geht. Für zu Hause und den heimischen Partykeller sicher super zu gebrauchen aber wenn ich damit etwas länger zusammenhängend arbeiten will dann wird das nix wegen "plötzlich Strom alle".Der optische Eindruck ist gut. Plastikgehäuse mit relativ guten Potis.
