Introduction to Technical Services (Library and Information Science Text Series)

A very comprehensive book for technical services
The book is very compact with text. Overall it is a good buy depending on your professor. My professor at the University of South Carolina covered the entire book, so it was well worth the buy. There are lots of great examples and samples that can assist you in learning about the different MARC records. There are some good discussion points throughout the book to consider. I had the option of getting the hardback and it was a solid. The book can be pricey, but hopefully you can find someone who might have a used versions. Really good book for discussing technical services in libraries.

Tech Services Text
Product arrived quickly and was as described. The text itself is a bit dry, but thoroughly explains the details of cataloging, acquisitions, etc.

Editing?
This was so thoroughly dry that I had to have a glass of water going though the chapters. I realize the material is dry too, but they should have taken the time to spice it up a little. Also, could have used an editor for the typos and grammar mistakes. Frustrating.

Learn All About the Library Technical Services Operation
A great textual resource for LIS or Library Science students and professionals wanting to learn about what all goes into running a library tech services operation. The text covers everything from MARC recordkeeping, AACR2 and RDA standards and even Library of Congress Subject Headings LCSH. Advice is also presented on best practices for composing original and copy cataloging processes.
