Velux TMR 014 0000 Sun Tunnel, 14" Tubular Skylight Acrylic Dome w/Pitched Flashing & Rigid Tunnel

Before I embarked on the Sun Tunnel install I read the first review posted by Haef. Thank you, great info! It inspired me to call Velux and ask them about why the domes are half frosted and they told me that they discontinued making those domes and they are now completely clear. I made sure to confirm that the company Westside Wholesale was not selling old models of the Half frosted style and they were not and send all product out from Velux. Called Velux and so happy I did because the guy was super helpful. I am under trees on a north facing slope and it was crucially important to get the "pitched flashing" not the "low profile" style to get the most light. Before purchasing I luckily went to a yoga class and the studio had these skylights. I saw how bright they are and chose not to put one in my bedroom simply because I like a dark den when it comes to sleep. They are SO BRIGHT and amazing! Even on a rainy day my house is lit up beautifully. I feel like pressure has been lifted from this low ceiling home. I saved so much money in labor because with regular box skylights you have to have a skilled carpenter build the box and trim it out. The install of these is so fast 2-3 hours. My builder installed 3 @14 inch (definitely recommend this bigger size) and 1 @10inch in the bathroom which was plenty of light for my tiny bathroom! I am so pleased with this investment. Excellent. The light fixture looks so cool, sleek, modern. The unit looks and produces light just like an overhead light would. Even on a cloudy day it perks up an internal hallway that we have that has always been dark and gloomy, making it bright and cheerful.

Certainly takes a homeowner a lot longer than the recommended time to install. Drawings are vague and unhelpful. So far finished product looks good.

We installed two of these in our living room. The space is transformed with bright comfortable light.Installation by my experienced contractor was not exactly easy, which is not too surprising given that it involves cutting through the roof. Two men for one full day should be calculated into the cost.

Don't believe the 2 hour install claim on the box. I'm a relatively savvy DIYer and it took the better part of a day. It is not difficult, just a lot of steps.

Not really worth the price and effort and cost of installation. Totally not what I imagined or thought it would add to the appearance and light enhancement to the rooms.

This item put so much light in my kitchen we thought we had left the lights on.
