One of the best series out there
This is the 5th book in the series I’ve read and the author really hit his stride in the 4th book. What he does really well is write the bad guys who are just as interesting, if not more so, than the cops Erika works with. And that’s a good thing.

A compassionate thriller
Bryndza has managed to create villains that I can relate to, so that I simply must turn the page. Every character has a back story that adds another layer to the plot. The settings are vivid and unique.

IT'S A MUST-READ!!
The story opens with DCI Erika Foster and DI Kate Moss inspecting a large suitcase with a dismembered dead body of a man inside. There's no ID and his face is unrecognizable.DI James Peterson has been on medical leave from an incident of being shot in the stomach. James and Erika were an item - but now they're just friends. The Police find another dismembered body of a woman in a suitcase. She was killed the same way as the man. The Police identify the two bodies: Thomas Hoffman and Charlene Selby. Erika and Moss visit the families to give the bad news.Max and Nina met while working at a Chip Shop and ended up getting fired. They start seeing more and more of each other. Max is a hot-temper and violent man. Nina stays locked in their flat...Max has the only key; he doesn't want her to leave. As they continue their investigation - two more bodies are found in suitcases - their bodies dismembered. They are identified - they are all connected - but how? What does Max and Nina have to do with it? Who killed these people? It's a race against time - Max and Nina have kidnapped Commander Paul Marsh's twin girls - Mia and Sophie. How will they find the girls? Erika and Moss are frustrated because they have no leads. What happens next took me by surprise! As the story continues, the pieces start to come together. Max and Nina are on a collision course and there's no way out for them. Will Erika and Moss catch them before it's too late? You'll have to read it to find out!Robert has created a story full of suspense and thrills! The characters are believable and people you care about. Erika is a complicated woman - all she knows is work - she has a difficult time maintaining personal relationships. Her relationship with James was rocky so they decide to just be friends. This is Book 5 in the Detective Erika Foster series. I love series books - it's an opportunity to visit with old, dear friends! Robert has created characters that continue to grow and evolve.I highly recommend Cold Blood as well as the other 4 books! They are well-worth reading! You won't be disappointed - I promise!!

Like a ski slope
This series is going downhill, still on the bunny slope and I hope the next book doesn't continue this trend. Missing words and punctuation, as well as plot holes, distracting side stories and a now stale formula.Get a new proofreader, (or hire one) and get back to basics, the writing that made the first couple of books can't put down, must reads.I won't get into specific details because I don't want to post spoilers in case anyone else is still reading this series. The titles are getting rather annoying and ludicrous. "A gripping serial killer that will take your breath away"? Not just a ridiculous title but this story didn't live up to the promise. Let your writing generate it's own hype. Truth in advertising would deem the title to be more along the lines of, "A mildly entertaining story that leaves you wishing for 3 hours of your life back."

Nina at first was in love with him
I want to thank Bookouture Robert Bryndza and Netgalley for a copy of this book. I am a huge fan of Erika Foster, so I was really excited to receive this.Erika’s new case starts when a male’s body turns washed up dismembered in a suitcase, off the river Thames. There first thought was, that it may be drug related as the body is filled with condoms full of drugs but, when another suitcase and another body turns up, this time a female, Erika knows that they have a serial Killer on their hands. Erika is leading the case with old friend Kate Moss and her team. Whilst Peterson is still on sick leave recovering from his gunshot to his stomach. They agreed that their relationship is over and they going to be ‘just friends’As the investigations goes on, the story tells then tells of vulnerable teenager Nina who starts working in a chip shop. Where she meets Max, an older guy. Who introduces her to a life of crime and drugs. He is a violent thug who has no hesitation in hurting or killing people. Nina at first was in love with him. But she gets scared of him as he starts locking her in the flat and there is no a way of escaping. This is a fast-paced, gripping read. It’s very addictive and I like how although some parts of the story are complex, it still flows very easily. This story, like the others in the series doesn’t disappoint. I liked how in this episode Robert has also included part of Erika’s personal life, her sister and her life at home in Slovakia and also how lonely she is. I also liked her ballsy character and the way she doesn’t stop until she gets the work done. It made the story more believable.I can’t wait for the next book.

Cold Blood is the fifth book in the Erika Foster series but works easily as a stand alone as the author ensures he gives the reader enough information to make sure they don’t feel like they are missing out on anything. As always the author had me from the gripping and intriguing start and didn’t let me go until the emotional ending. It seems to never rain but pours for Erika. Nothing in her work or personal life is ever straight forward. Something that really stood out to me in this story though is how through her work, to a certain extent it hasn’t hardened her. She still has compassion for some of the criminals she deals with. This is why I love her character so much. Even after all that she has been through, she can still reason why some people do what they do, where as for a lot of us it is easy to distance ourselves from it and have no compassion for these people.Nina was a character that really grabbed me. She could be any of us. Through Nina I found myself getting more attached to the whole story and I just couldn’t tear myself away. The author has created a story line that will have the readers having a love/hate relationship with the baddies.Cold Blood is without a doubt my new favourite book in the Erika Foster series. Dark, gritty, hard hitting and emotional, this is a crime read that would be truly criminal to miss. Another epic read in this sensational crime series.

as good as his first ‘The Girl in the Ice’
This is the fifth book in the Erika Foster series and I’m just so impressed with the development of the characters and the style of writing. None of the books have disappointed or dwindled in plot. I would go as far to say that this one was as good as his first ‘The Girl in the Ice’.Although four books precede this novel you don’t need to have read them to enjoy this one. You’re brought up to speed quickly throughout the book with as much detail as you need to ‘get going’ leaving you to simply enjoy the thrilling plot.Probably the most gruesome of the series so far, definitely the most bloody. This book unfolds quickly really adding to the urgency of the story. Erika is on top form as always, unlike the last book she’s not quite as outspoken but she certainly takes a beating and comes out fighting! My only criticism of the novel, if I am permitted, is that I’ve noticed in each book the commissioner is always keen to call the crime a ‘gay bashing’. In each of the series Rob is careful to include a real mix of characters (white, black, gay, straight, bi etc...) which is great but also in each book one victim is written to have gay tendencies or is openly gay and that coupled with the initial response is a bit same-y. Other than that the books are all well written, gripping and utterly compelling!

This is one powerful story that will shock you to the core.
Cold Blood is the Fifth book in the Detective Erika Foster series has always I couldn't wait to get my teeth into it. Wondering what Robert is going to bring us next. I am happy to report that Mr Bryndza has totally smashed it yet again….jesus can this man write!!This series just gets better and better and I have to say this is my favourite one yet! The author always gives us something different in each one and he also keeps the characters fresh and real I just never get bored. This one is so much more gritter too. Like in very book in this series Robert grabs you right from the start and in Cold Blood I was shocked has Erika when a suitcase with a body of a young man washes up to shore on the river thames Erika having worked on cases and never seeing anything like this before. When another suitcase turns up with woman. Working out the link between the two bodies can she track down the killer before and save two innocent children before it's too late? OMG what a story…. you seriously need to read this one. I devoured this in one sitting, It is certainly one pulse racing, nail biting, gritty read. With chapters alternating between Erika and the killer and it woven together at end with a shocking ending….Christ I thought my heart was going to explode. I am loving the character build up with Erika in each novel we are always given that little bit more but in this story we are given a lot more background information. She is very head strong and determined and dedicated to her job. I love the relationship between her and DI Moss he does make me smile. Cold Blood played heavily on my emotions to with the Character Nina. Robert has wrote some truly shocking and horrific scenes where I could not help but real for her. There is nothing not to like about this book or series it is full of twists and turns and OMG moments and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. This is one powerful story that will shock you to the core. I cannot wait to see what Robert has in store for us next. This is a must read for crime fans which I highly recommend giving it 5 massive gold stars.

Another great story.
I feel as though I know Erika Foster and have images in my mind of how her world looks.Robert tells the story well giving each character strength and believability. This novel has had me hooked from the beginning. The twists and turns take you through a dark world that you are part of but are safely protected using the turn/wipe of each page.Robert also creates the plot lines so well you can almost predict what will happen, but not quite. This keeps the reader engaged right up to the very last word. Thank you.xxI used the kindle text to speech which was actually quite good because of the neutrality of the orator.I also listened to a previous book through Audible. I didn't like it. The voices were all wrong. The woman tried to read the book using a range of voices, but they didn't work for me. It spoiled my imagery of Erika, she sounded weak and too north eastern. She needed a less accented voice. No disrespect intended to people with colloquial voices but Erika is from Scandinavia.Don't let this out you off the novel however, just be aware Audible adds a different take.
