Length was different but worked perfectly!
Fit my 2005 V-8 STS perfectl! At first I compared it to the original one that I had already taken off. I noticed the body length was longer on the new strut. I thought it may not fit. Went out and installed both struts in under a minute.....easy to install. Closed and opened the trunk lid and they work perfectly!! So the body of the new strut is longer but I noticed the rod on the old strut doesn't go all the way in when the trunk lid is closed so that accounts for more length when compressed. I could tell it didn't go all the way in because the rod was clean and shiny where it goes into the body but the last 1/2" of rod was dirty indicating that part sticks out.

Fits and works okay
Easy to install and works on my 2008 STS, but it is inverted from original. The main cylinder attaches to the hood and the piston portion to the mount. This is due to the attachment point socket sizes are different on the hood versus the mount and this strut is has the right sized sockets on the opposite ends of it. This is inverted from factory and is not how it is designed to lay in the through. It fits and hood closes so it seems to work, just messes with my OCD.
