Best at-home highlighting kit + tips!
Perfect kit if you're wanting to go really blonde! I've used this kit so many times and it (almost) always turns out great! I prefer it over any other at-home highlighting kit I've tried. It gives me the best cool blonde color, comes with a toning solution, and has a sturdier metal hook (so much better than the flimsy plastic hook in other kits). Here's a few tips for the best results: - Kit has enough for short to medium length hair. If you have long or thick hair, I'd recommend getting 2 kits so you have enough solution. - The cap that comes with is a bit thin and flimsy, so use a better cap if you happen to have one. Otherwise, it works just fine as long as you pull the hair thru carefully. If you're too rough when pulling or digging around with the hook, it will tear a larger hole in the plastic lining. This can lead to bleed marks (a splotch of color where the bleach leaked thru). Basically looks like an uneven area of color amongst the rest of the highlights. It's honestly not too noticeable unless you're a hairdresser and know what it looks like. Just a risk you take with these at-home kits. - Use latex gloves when applying solution if you have them handy. The kit comes with gloves but they're huge and awkward. The instructions suggest using the spatula to apply the solution, but I prefer to apply it using gloves so I can work the solution onto the strands more evenly. Be sure to apply it at your roots, but don't glop it onto your scalp - this could cause excess solution to bleed thru holes. - Follow the instructions and pay close attention to your timer so you don't overprocess. I have medium brown hair and it usually takes about 40-45 mins for me, but everyone's hair is different! Set intervals so you can check on it. - The purple toning rinse says to apply it after you've showered. Trust me when I say - do this step in the shower. It's very liquid-y and will splatter/run all over. - Get a good purple shampoo/conditioner to use for further toning if it turns out too brassy. Use it a couple times a week to maintain a bright blonde! Best of luck ladies, I hope your hair turns out amazing! :)

Perfect Every Time!
While everyone's hair is different, this formula always works for me. I used it on my own hair during winters when I was young, used it on my daughter's hair in exactly the same way, and recently, when I noticed my roots getting inexplicably darker than ever in late life, I came back to it again, for the first time in twenty years, hoping I'd get the same results. I did. That said, I didn't use the plastic cap that came with the kit. I ordered "Pre-punched with Holes Silicone Highlight Cap Hair Color Set Professional Reusable... by RJMBMUP also from Amazon. I found this cap easier to use. It doesn't rip like the plastic, prevented any bleed-through, allowed me to get the highlights closer around my face, and the other tools were really helpful too. I used the hot pink comb to get any little hair-loops out of the holes and I used the black brush to brush on color like a stylist, instead of just glopping it on with the plastic spatula--this saves product if you have long hair. I also used my own fitted latex gloves because the ones included in the kit are big and make my hands feel clumsy to me. Other than that, I followed the directions, using L'Oreal Paris' color, shampoo, and leave-in toner, and I'm happy with my results. Again, everyone's hair is different, but if it helps, I take a washcloth and check one of the last strands of my hair to get color. If it's not ready, I brush color back on it and wait a few more minutes, then check again. When it looks like the inside of a banana peel in color, that's when I know it's ready--it's platinum. For me, that usually takes 20-25 minutes. Happy blonding!

Perfect Color
LOVE this stuff. I donโt use the cap- too annoying. I just paint it directly onto my hair for a fully blended blonde look, then finish with the toner afterward. Also, my hair is SO MUCH HEALTHIER ever since I stopped going to the salon.

A lovely 'pick me up'
Great do it yourself product with rewarding results. I watched lots of videos and read all the reviews I could for tips for success. The cap was not very easy to use, yet the results were worth the effort as I have not highlighted my hair at home before. So I had to use 2 mirrors to see the back and side hole metal hook placement and it was a bit of a stretch to do but good investment of time. Took a couple of hours to complete pulling long hair through every hole. I even stopped and took a break for a bit. Watching how-to videos on YouTube really made a difference in my success. I even watched professionals explain how to start at the front top pulling strands through the cap. Then complete the sides starting from the front to back. Reading the directions and videos helped remind me to start putting lightener on back of head first and away from the roots. Then going back and doing the roots thoroughly. This is because the heat from your head will accelerate the processing and you get more lift at the roots than the ends if you apply the bleach on all parts at the same time. I did order a tool hair bleaching kit that has the thin brush/comb. I recommend using that to make sure every piece of hair you want highlighted is saturated. The formula has great thickness to it and with my long hair I used the entire mixture. I have undyed light brown hair and left the mixture on for an hour for the desired results. It was somewhat unnerving waiting and watching my hair turn orange-ish, then yellow, then perfectly blonde. Hang in there. Don't stop processing too early. That's what worked for me anyway. The leave in toner is terrific but super drippy. It had zero thickness-very watery. So I listened to the reviewer that advised applying toner in the shower. Great tip! So happy with the outcome. Did end up with a couple of very minor "hot root" spots right in front so got some Mineral Infusion Gray Root Concealer medium brown color to 'fix' the oopsy spots-works great! Research "hair mascara" if you want to know more about those type of products. Although it's for covering grey, I like the little presicion wand to fix trouble spots of my highlights. It just looked more appealing to have instead of the spray root touch up. Actually, I'm not sure what they're called but hair is light then dark then light again. So kind of a calico oops. The highlights look beautiful and natural. A lovely pick me up. And, a couple of 'hot roots'/calico places that I will keep covering after each time I wash my hair will serve as a reminder how brave I was, as a newbie, to have highlighted my own hair because of the pandemic.

Good for the Q-tine
HOOOO lord. This was my first foray into a box kit, something my mother made me swear never to use from the moment I emerged from the womb. Then came the coronavirus. My hair was getting dark, and so was my spirit. I felt like I could fully embrace the statement "It's just hair," so I bravely ordered this L'Oreal kit. I watched a couple of YouTube tutorials in anticipation of the kit's arrival. I felt ready. The cap method is tried and true, and it's pretty foolproof. If you have thick hair, it will take a long time. I got so tired of the process that I didn't do enough of the back of my head (and that's on me). It can be a little uncomfortable pulling the hair through the cap, and I definitely pulled some of my hair out. However, looking at the placement of my highlights after the fact, I can attest that the method is worth it if you are forced to do this at home. Do a test strip like the instructions say so you know exactly how much time your hair needs! Note that this stuff starts working fast. In a salon, they take their time placing the highlights, and it's all good. A home kit is different in my experience. This kit starts working RAPIDLY the moment you apply bleach to the first strand, so don't waste time massaging it into all of those hairs you've plucked so you can get that timer started ASAP. For background, I've gotten my hair done professionally since high school with no exceptions, and I've used top shelf hair care products for a while. Thus my hair was very healthy going into this. My hair handled it like a champ, but there is no question that this bleach was harsher and more drying than what my stylist uses. But the results were so bright and vibrant so I feel it was really worth it. I've since done some deep conditioning and I gave myself a trim, and I think that's helped. Bottom line: if you're a salon regular, a box kit might not be for you. It's not for the faint of heart! I feel like this kit was high risk and high reward though, and I am very picky. My mother reluctantly agreed over FT that my highlights look great. I cannot imagine doing this twice in a row. Maybe some people with thicker/more coarse hair can handle it, but I doubt mine could. I am so glad I did this. I would do it again but only if/when there is another pandemic.

Easy application
Used this product once a year for at least 7 years Maybe more Easy application I bought a fuller cap (my head is large). Love the outcome The blonde is bright - I pull a lot of strands I haven't noticed any hair damage I feel "sassy" after it's done Really enjoy it My hair is somewhat light to begin so the growing out process is painless I use no other hair color products I encourage anyone to try it The directions are easy to follow Poke the holes in the cap first otherwise you may feel discomfort when using the metal hook In a few months- I'll repurchase for my Summer Sassy vibe

Fantastic Buy!!
Amazing product!! I cannot say enough for this product! I have been searching for a DIY cap highlight kit for ages and finally came across this one on Amazon. I read all of the reviews before deciding to order and I am so happy I did! It was pretty easy to hook my own hair which I was pretty uneasy about going into it.. but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. They colour came out a really nice natural colour because of the blue toner after colour they provide. It really sets their product apart. It eliminates that brassy undertone a lot of blondes, which can make your hair look orange. Fantastic but and will definitely order again!

Great product!
although it seemed pricey...if you are just keeping up with your highlights..you actually will have treatments..just need another cap- the color is good-but always use the blue shampoo to take away brassiness Will buy again
