Journey on a Cloud: A Children's Book Inspired by Marc Chagall (Children's Books Inspired by Famous Artworks)

The most beautiful children's book ever!
This is the most gorgeous children's book that I have ever laid eyes on. My four-year-old daughter and I love to read this story together, but many times we don't even bother with the words; we just slowly look over each page and enjoy the vibrant colors and engaging pictures. The story itself is a lot of fun, and I love how poetic some of the phrases are, but it's the artwork that is the true gem. Chagall is one of my favorite artists, and Veronique Massenot has done an amazing job of celebrating his style and is an insanely talented artist in her own right. I gave this book to my daughter for her birthday because her favorite color is blue, and most of the story takes place in a little blue town with every shade of blue imaginable, but as Zephyr, the blue town's mailman, goes on his journey, he encounters many new cultures and colors he never knew existed. When you turn the page to the yellow land and then to the red country, the beauty of the colors will take your breath away. I cannot say enough good things about this book. You don't have to be an art historian or even have to know who Chagall is to enjoy this book (although there is a fun information page about Chagall's life and artwork at the end). This book is for anyone with a whimsical outlook who loves the beauty of color.

Interesting book, but the kids thought it was a little weird. It doesn't lend well to story time, as some words are backwards and/or upside down.

Excellent for art teachers
Wonderful Story with Chagall-esque illustrations. I also like that the size of the book is a little big.

Strange Story, nice pictures
The story has nothing to do with Chagall. It’s meandering strange and comes to extremely abrupt end. The pictures are beautiful but they’re not of his work just related to it. As an art teacher I’m not really sure of this as a teaching tool I don’t think students would get very much out of it.

Delivery charged!
No issues with the book or punctuality but we were unimpressed to find that despite selecting the option with free delivery at £7.49 a delivery charge was added and it was billed at over £10! Will avoid this retailer in future as we feel cheated!
