Great Sensor!
The ecolink sensors are perfect for anyone who has a pre-existing security system. Instead of placing these big honkers on each door or window, use the pre-existing wiring to detect open/close. Any house with a hard-wired system will have some reed sensors wired into some doors and windows. If you know which zones are which, you can easily wire them to these from the security system box hidden away in a closet somewhere. There are two green screw-down wire mounts that are just that simple to wire in. Simply remove the wires from whichever zone, mount into the Ecolink sensor and test. I managed to get all four of my doors wired into these with ease. I also mounted a unit on a sliding glass door that had no sensor, and was very easy to install. There is double sided tape, screws, and alternate brown covers included with each unit.I use the SmartThings platform and I experienced some minor pairing problems with some units. However, with some patience and continuous tries, every unit paired. These are powered by a CR123 battery, and is monitored through your system.

Working Well
Update: Need 8 more of these to finish my project and now they are out of stock. In the mean time I started installing GE Z-Wave switches.Ordered 6 of these in my first batch. 3 have been installed on windows and 3 are installed on doors. Due to the trim around my doors I had to put the main unit on the door and the magnet on the frame. Only had pairing problems with one of them the other 5 paired right away. I am using SmartThings to control my Z-Wave network.

Great performance and some nice extras included
Once you get used to the sort of quirky hit and miss inclusion procedure that is common to all three of the Ecolink Z-Wave devices, there's really not much more you could ask from them. I've paired them up to both Vera Lite and SmartThings and with both hubs, I've sometimes "half included", I don't know how else to describe it, one of the devices where the only remedy seemed to be excluding, followed by a second attempt at including. In any case, I've never had one not work after some amount of fiddling around. Once up and running these are rock solid, never missing a trip, never seeming to develop neighbor or routing issues, and with pretty good battery performance to boot. While this next point may not apply to very many, in my house is very very appreciated that a dark brown housing is included. Where we have stained dark wood trim, it greatly reduces how noticeable the device is. If you chose to not screw mount the two pieces and instead opt for a double sided tape solution, the included tape will do only for climate controlled inside locations. I installed one of these on the inside of a basement steel Bilco door, and I live in the northeast great lakes area - hot humid summers, very cold dry winters. I didn't even give the included tape a shot there and instead opted for some 3M Extreme which has help up nicely.

Too Large To Easily Conceal
***UPDATE 22Apr2017***Both the STM and this (this review was for the Z-Wave version, not the Z-Wave Plus) sensor are still functioning well. Neither batteries have died, this reports 100% battery life remaining, the STM reports 89% remaining. For the price, this sensor definitely is worth the slightly bulkier dimensions. I've also added a few IRIS ZigBee Door/Window opening sensors from Lowe's that I figure would be worth adding to this review. All of the devices work consistently at their primary function. The Z-Wave devices (STM and this Ecolink) seem to hold their battery life longer, although I have yet to have any batteries die from any of these sensors so it may just be how accurate they report battery level and it's just too early to tell for sure. The "bonus" functionality from the STM - 3-Axis gyro ("garage door motion detector") and temp sensor have still not become useful in my setup. The Iris ZigBee devices also have temperature sensors. I assume all of the sensors are accurate, however all but one are attached to windows/exterior doors so the temperature is heavily influenced by outside temperatures more than ambient air temperature inside my home. The one attached to an interior door does seem to be relatively accurate and if I needed to perform automation based on the temperature in that room, it is a potential nice-to-have. The ZigBee devices are currently $22 at Lowe's, but have gone on sale occasionally and they're available inside various kits (automation, home security, etc) that can drop their price if you're interested in the other sensors in the kit. Given the same price point of this Ecolink sensor, Monoprice's Z-Wave sensor, and the Iris ZigBee sensors at Lowe's, when I decide to add additional sensors to my home I'm likely to buy whichever one is on sale at the time.I'll update again if/when something changes.___________________________________________________________________________________________________Solid device, connected easily, "feels cheap".I bought this to compare to the Samsung SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor (STM from here on out) to decide which I wanted to deploy around my house. As of the date I purchased them, the Ecolink was ~$29, and the STM was ~$36. One important difference is that the STM can also be used to detect vibrations (for things like Garage Doors), and it has a temp sensor. Those weren't deciding factors for me, but might be for you.The biggest differences that I found were the size and attention to detail. The Ecolink was almost double the length, but slightly less wide. It also came with interchangeable colored "shells" in case your door/window isn't hospital white. But for me, white was just fine. They both paired fairly easily with my SmartThings hub, so no problem there. Ultimately it came down to the "feel" of build quality as well as the size. The STM device is about the size of a small metal altoids tin, maybe 1 and 3/4 inches long by 1 inch wide by about 1/3 inches deep. The magnet chicklet piece that gets interrupted to let you know the door/window is open is about the same size on both devices. The build quality on the STM seems a lot more on par with something that will last for a long time and didn't seem like a quickly designed device to get something on the market. The size of this device was about the size of a 5-stick pack of Wrigley's gum. Maybe 2 and 1/2 inches long, 3/4 of an inch wide, and 1/2 inch deep. The battery in this was a cylinder style "camera" battery that you can likely find in most grocery stores near the other batteries. The battery in the STM was a flat button style (CR1025-like) battery that you'd likely find somewhere near a pharmacy in a grocery store. The battery choice on this definitely made the device much larger than it otherwise could have been.If anything changes between these 2 devices (one dies early or becomes glitchy) I'll update this review.

Just discovered last night that it now works perfect. It shows up as a sensor and indicates ...
Was a little concerned about compatibility with the Wink 2. When I first received it a couple weeks ago, it would pair but was not able to assign it to any robots. Just discovered last night that it now works perfect. It shows up as a sensor and indicates its status as either open or closed. What is really nice is that this sensor has screw terminals to attach wires for any non-powered sensor. I am now using it connected to the wires with my wired alarm system. So you don't have to use the magnetic sensor if you need it for something else. Also, the battery is a CR123A and per the documentation is supposed to last years. We'll see.

Bueno pero no sirve con puertas metálicas!
Es un buen equipo, alcanza buena distancia de transmisión pero el sensor se queda magnetizado con puertas metálicas y no reacciona. Se debería de especificar en la descripción.
