This reel is excellent value for money. I have a 6-7 weight and and a larger 8-9 weight. Both are high quality and far more robust than the equivalent from other companies at the price. Unless you're happy to fork out a load of money on a top-quality and overpriced reel, this fly reel is good enough for most purposes.

Nice reel, I bought the 9/10wt to go on a predator 9wt rod. Drag is nice and smooth and a spare spool wasn't to expensive so I can have a floating and intermediate line. I'd recommend it if you want to get your first pike fly setup.

I bought this 9/10 size because the Toro is a tad small for my personal taste. Similar to the Toro reel, the Avid reel is a little less well built. However the Toro sets the bar high. It was fine for a WF 7 switch line with loads of backing and (sad of me to be into that trend) and would have worked up to 9 lines in my opinion. No complaints at all. But the Toro is that little bit better...

Already had the Avid reel, so it was a no brainer to get a spare spool to increase flexibility.
