Works great and pretty too!
This feeder works wonderfully for our butter bark nuggets. Lovely forest green color and sturdy for our woodpeckers, and other feathered friends.

Love the size, but was very wasteful.
The media could not be loaded. I Purchased this larger suet feeder, because I had a smaller one that the suet only lasted several days. I noticed when I got the new one the wires were further apart than the original one I had. The opening is so large the birds can pull out a whole size suet. I was having a lot of waste falling out of the feeder. I decided to attach a tray under the feeder to catch the crumbs. Now the larger birds, such as the Cardinals and finch can eat out of the tray. Before it made quite the mess. Now it all gets eaten

Just the things for feeding birds
So much easier to use than the suet cake holder and the birds love it

Perches
The perch for the birds to sit on is very hard to put on. Break very easily

This model is metal.
Well made product. And THIS model is metal through out, except for the perches which are plastic.I mention this only because a number of reviews gave the impression that the cage, etc etc. was plastic. And of course they weren't happy. So, THIS particular model (and there are others that are similiar) is very well made. And most importantly after a day or two adjustment after I replaced the 'old fashioned' block suet feeder, the birds love it.Maybe to well. 😄 A block of suet lasted about a week........ now it lasts about 3 days.So much for my calculations on cost of materials to fill either type. Pellets came out way ahead per pound. But that was based on a 'load' lasting a week.Oh well the birds are happy and the Cats are happy with their 'Kitty Kat TV'.

sturdy and easy to fill and hang up
This little feeder is easy to fill and hang outside. It comes with a couple metal sticks to use as perches that fall out easily so I insert a few wood branches for the birds to perch on while feeding. It keeps them at the feeder longer and allows more than one bird to enjoy at the same time.Tree clinging birds also like this feeder (woodpeckers among others). Not alot of the additives some suet has resulting in less waste and mess under feeders. Mess can attract rats, squirrels and crows

Bird stands are weak, short, and hard to install.
When I tried to installed the first bird stand the day I got the product, it broke. A couple of days later, I tried to add the length to the stands with wire (because they are too short), I broke the second one. I dare not to add the length to the third one. They are too shorts for birds with similar or bigger size than cardinals to stand on it. They are only long enough for birds with similar or smaller size of finch. The stands are very hard to install because they are weak plastic. They should be made of metal.

Great feeder for Suet Nuggets!
It's finally May and I am updating this review to report that Baltimore orioles are visiting these feeders, in addition to woodpeckers of all species, also catbirds are very good at using it, as well as nuthatches and tufted titmice. Bluebirds have tried it a few times but prefer the tray feeders. It is hard to clean out the bottom, especially with the perches criss-crossed on the bottom. Also, the pellets on the bottom tend to compact and get soggy in rainy weather. I solved this by shoving some crumpled foil into the bottom 2" before pouring the pellets in. The birds tend to dislodge the foil after a time, so a few pellets drop to the bottom, but the compacting isn't as bad and it's easy to spray out and dislodge. From reading the reviews, I think some people don't realize what this feeder really is. It is NOT a nut feeder, but designed for suet nuggets which are made by C&S (also sold by Amazon) and come in peanut and sunflower flavors. There is absolutely no waste with these, and no leftovers under the feeder. In fact, having used this for nearly a year, I can say if I had to choose just one feeder, this would be it.
