The best Utility Knife on the market
What exactly is the utility of a utility knife? Here is my list: Cut roofing felt and shingles, cut vinyl flooring, cut and carve sheetrock, install doors (cut and trim hinges, knobs, locks to fit), sharpen pencils, strip wires when doing electrical work, scrape grime. Oh yeh - Box cutters.Number 1 Requirement for a utility knife -- SAFE.This design is unique. Because of its beefiness, it firmly fits into the hand. When I use other utility knives, I cannot get the same level of control. The other knives tend to twist and slip when I am exerting lots of force.Number 2 Requirement: ReliabilityI own 4 utility knives. They are all reliable -- I don't buy the cheap ones. I owned the Alltrade for maybe 15 years. It is my favorite. I just purchased a second one for my shop.Number 3 Requirement: PracticalThe Alltrade is the easiest to retract and extend. It is rugged. It's easy to clean and lube. It is BIG so not so easy to misplace.

Best Ever
This knife is so well designed. Especially for my starting-to-have-arthritis hands. I've found this utility knife to be the safest one of its kind that I've ever used. Simply squeeze the ergonomically well-fit handle to make the blade protrude from the end. No difficult, sliding blade control here, saving my aching thumb joints. Retracting the blade is SO SIMPLE with a one touch button. Changing the blade, after it becomes dull, is super simple, too! And new blades are housed in an easily-opened compartment the handle, so no rooting around the garage for extra blades. The only reason I've purchased three of these is that I've lost two of them!!

Great Knife
I have always liked this knife, I got my first on from Menards 20 years ago, but they do not carry it anymore, so I found it here.

One of the Best Tools I have
I have used a utility knife for years around the house and at work, even though I am not in a field where this is common practice. This is the best-designed tool I have seen for a long time. Used property, you will not hurt yourself or have any accidents. The blade moves out with a trigger, far away from the blade itself. I goes back in with a button, and locks. No accidents even when thrown in a drawer. There is an upper and lower rubber grip that keeps you from losing control. I love that part. It is heavy so you do not have to struggle with your own weight to do the job. Blade replacement is a snap and it even has storage for the extras. One more thing: because this tool is so easy to control, I have not had one accidental cut too deep into a box where I actually did damage. I now how one for the office and one for home because I refuse to use anything else.

I originally purchased this in the year 2016 and is now 2020.
I'll try to make this as short as I can:-Performs well for my intended use: opening boxed orders from retailers.-It's easy to handle and extremely easy to disengage, so safety is pretty darn good.-Grips very well in the hand and has a bit of weight to it, which is also good.-Blade sits in firm and sturdy. I haven't had any blades fly out like another reviewer stated.-Have had it get stuck a couple times in the past but haven't had the issue since. Not sure what did the trick. Just don't open and close it constantly and use it like a tool and it should be fine. Anything over stressed will eventually break.-Had to eventually glue back on black plastic thumb piece that is used to disengage the blade. Just used cheap superglue found at any retailer. It's held since and no problems. All in all I would put this on my recommended list as it has been quite durable and versatile since purchasing it. 4 Stars for a few minor setbacks, as described above, but I wouldn't say it's enough to look elsewhere. This is my go-to tool for any kind of cutting as it's quick, easy, and safe. Would buy again.

Handy and safe
My boss initially purchased one of these box cutters for me a few years ago, and I sadly lost it in an office move. I absolutely had to order a replacement. These are very ergonomic, safe and sturdy. I've never had issues with this boxcutter.

will buy again
alltradepros: good design, functional, durable, saves me time on the job(few seconds), allows me to have the control for detailed cuts.cons: bigger handle than most of the other brands, doesn't hold as many spare blades as the others, the blade end switching button is a bit hard to use compared to othersotherbrands: (masterforce, craftsman, clauss, lenox, irwin, no brand cheap box cutters, etc)tried a few brands before ending up with this one, some broke after a few uses, some were uncomfortable and slipped a lot, on some the blades were not locking and ended up sliding back into case during use, some had the casing bent out of shape intransit from job to job(my abuse of the tools not manufacture's fault), etc, etc, etc

Great tool.
First off... this tool is big. It's definitely bigger than most that you find in the home stores. It also weighs a lot.. and it's also built very well. If you are looking for a lightweight, cheap, small disposable utility knife, look elsewhere. If you want a quality item that feels great and works great and don't mind a bit extra weight and girth, then this is for you. I like the retractable blade system (retracts at the handle), the blade storage and the blade change system.I recommend this if you want something a bit more than the $.99 cheap utility knifes and don't mind the bigger size.
