Char-Broil 1446552R04 Carbon-Steel Griddle Stone

I have a Char-Broil PERFORMANCE SERIES™ AMPLIFIRE™ 2-BURNER GAS GRILL Model # 463655421. The cooking area is slightly smaller than this Griddle. But for the price it was a no brainer to give it a try. I think it was about half the cost of others I looked at. My cooking surface is 17" wide and 16" deep.I cut 1" off the side, then cut that in half for 2 smaller griddles. I wanted to be able to use half the grill normally and the other half as a griddle, or use the whole thing as a griddle. They seasoned up nicely and I've used them several times for veggies, burgers, bacon and such. Bacon will quickly overflow the grease catch on my smaller grill. I may add some small holes on the ends for greases to flow off the griddle. but overall very happy with this purchase. It was very easy to cut with just about any metal saw bladed tool. I did have access to a band saw. but could be done with a hand saw or jig saw easy.

Does what it is supposed to do.

I recently purchased the Char-Broil Carbon-Steel Griddle, and overall, I'm quite satisfied with its performance. It provides a spacious cooking surface and evenly distributes heat for delicious results. However, I did notice a slight bending in the griddle during use. While this didn't affect its functionality significantly, it's worth mentioning for potential buyers. Despite this minor flexibility, the griddle is durable and well-suited for outdoor cooking adventures. It's perfect for preparing everything from breakfast classics to grilled favorites. Overall, it's a reliable addition to my outdoor cooking arsenal.

I have been looking at some of the grill-top cookers for sale, such as the Blackstones. A friend has been crowing about his, but I did not want to purchase another gas-fire grill since I have a perfectly one. So, I purchased this griddle top for my gas grill. It is truly important to take the time to cure it and condition the metal. It's also important to follow the recommended maintenance procedures after you use it, but I guarantee, if you do, this will become your go-to device for breakfast, lunch and dinner!!! All those wonderfully tasty things a short-order cook can prepare in your favorite diner are now within your power. I got a couple of metal egg rings, and some specialized griddle tools, and I'm in heaven!! Breakfast of bacon, eggs and fried bread is to die for. Pancakes become a work of love. A little spritz of olive or cannola oil, and you are ready to rock. This should come with a warning, however, that once you really master it, this griddle is the ONLY place you will want to cook.....summer or winter.

UPDATE: Review still stands, but I improved the rating from 1 to 3 stars because the original shape returned when the sheet cooled and it hasn't warped since.It's still the wrong size for your basic BBQ grill, but at least it's not warped and useless.ORIGINAL REVIEW FOLLOWS:I spent the time properly seasoning this griddle. Both sides. I've done this before. It seasoned up just fine and that's why it gets a star.Otherwise? Waste of money for what you get.It's just a piece of sheet metal with a bend on one edge (probably designed to help withstand the inevitable bending and warping).The thing works by resting on the cooking surface of the BBQ, which means it sits a full three inches above the heating elements (my Weber gas grill has a cooking surface of enameled cast iron). It holds a nice even heat and maybe that helped this thing work a little better for me that it may have for someone with a thinner cooking surface.I had to run my BBQ on high on all three elements to get this thing hot enough to cook hamburger meat to a more than gray color. Because the surface area does not completely cover the cooking surface of the BBQ, and because the griddle has no anchors, it moves around when you use it and, obviously, it's hard to deal with a flat, greasy griddle that slides around on top of a grill that has exposed cooking surface.Especially when you have a long beard.But the real problem was the sheet warped the first time I took it up to heat that was hot enough to fry burgers. Just plain thin steel warping from average cooking heat. Not my fault.It still works, for what it does, but it's not a nice flat surface and never will be one again.And this damage was the result of basic, intended use -- THE FIRST TIME IT WAS USED.So, you live and learn. A guy selling a piece of sheet metal for $40 is probably ripping you off to a certain extent, although you have to be dumb enough to believe what he's selling will work.Seller: You could, at least, get the surface area measurement of consumer-grade grills, and size these things accordingly -- dimensions are pretty standard from one maker to the next.Bottom-line: This product was NOT worth the money.

This griddle fits perfectly over the burners of our Char-Broil Grill. Easy to follow instructions on how to season the griddle. We use it 3-4 times a week. We’ve enjoyed cooking on it so much, we plan on buying a larger griddle next spring.

I did everything the instructions said to prep it and after each usage I put cooking on it.It still ended up rusting. Will not buy this again. Would return it but is over 60 days.

Great for turning your regular grill into a griddle. We make smash burgers, sautéed veggies and so many more things. Very happy!
