JetBench Grinder Stand (Model JPS-2A)

The stand is fairly stout with decent metal thickness and weight. But the stand I received was missing the top plate! I called Jet and they referred me to a number at Amazon. Amazon shipped me a whole new stand and emailed me a shipping label. They said to get the missing part out of the box and ship the rest back. Waiting on UPS was the hard part.

This stand goes perfectly with the bench grinder. In fact, based on the configuration and number of holes on the top plate, this stand could be used for any number of bench grinders. I mounted Jet's 6 inch bench grinder to this stand and I am very glad that I did. The stand assembles easily and fulfills every need I have.One bad point. This stand is made I n China. Like so many other overseas items, the item that is in the box is way too heavy for the box. Amazon shipped it and it arrived all beat up. I was lucky that no parts fell out during transit. The manufacturer could beef up the box for transit. There's no way that the freight companies would even consider handling things better.......Nah! That'd be too easy!

I initially cancelled this item but was to late.I am glad that I was too late to cancel because this was far better than my workbench.I was able to put wheels and it looks and works great.I have more room on my workbench and I can move my grinder around my garage where I need it.It's a great, heavy-duty stand. Far better than my expectations.

Holes Dont match my Ryobi Grinder but great quality

Just received the pedestal stand - took all of five minutes to put the pieces together and snug up the socket drive locking bolts, another five to bolt my 6" DeWalt grinder in place. The stand is rock solid, though I will probably heed the advice to bolt it to the floor. UPS managed to completely mangle the shipping carton, which seems to be Standard Operating Procedure with them, but all of the pieces arrived despite a gaping hole that the stand pipe punched in the box. The shipping carton and the packing materials were wholly inadequate for an item of this weight, but the stand itself is a good product that meets my needs at a cost I could afford.

Let me start by saying that our shop is almost exclusively JET. We love their products and have not had any issues to date. Support is great, and you can get replacement parts next day.That said, this is a unit they obviously repackaged 'as-is' from an off-shore shop. The unit arrived in what appears to have once been a cardboard box which the heavy metal components were simply thrown into without any padding. The package was held together with rolls of shipping tape apparently applied by different shipping firms to try to hold it together until it arrived. Most jet units come carefully packaged and braced.Instead of the usually flawless JET paint finish, this one appears to have been painted with clumps of grass and mud. The entire surface is covered with paint ridges and gouges almost 1/8" thick.Mechanically, the unit simply does not go together, and isn't designed for durability. The cooling tray has a bolt that tightens against the column but there is no locking hole to keep it from working loose and falling. The locking hole on the top of the column is drilled the wrong size and is not tapped to take the locking bolt. The bottom stand attaches like the old fashioned Christmas tree stands with 3 bolts you snug up until the pipe deforms, whereupon it continues to wobble.I love JET, and I'll keep buying their equipment, but this particular piece is junk. I'm disappointed JET sells it.

The reviews about this item being poorly packed must have had an effect because mine was packed very well. Not a scratch. This thing is bulletproof and would work in a factory. It is very heavy and the paint is thick. The central tube could be filled with sand and it would be even more stable. I won't even need to bolt it to the floor. This may be the first 5 star review I've given. Jet did a very nice job on this piece.

I added a 20” x 20” wood base plate for just a bit more stability, may not need it but just in case!
