GONGE River Stones - The Original Kids Play Stepping Stones for Balance and Coordination, Non-Slip bottom, Stackable, for Indoor and Outdoor, Set of 6 - Vibrant

This review is of the Gonge Riverstones. Riverstones are sold in a set of 6. They are made of a very hard, brightly colored and durable plastic. The underside is hollow which allows for the stones to be nested together for storage (much like one nests mixing bowls together). Being hollow does not effect the sturdiness or durability of this product. The underside of the riverstones has a non-slip rubber grip. We have used the stones on laminate flooring, carpet, grass, cement, and wood chips. None of the riverstones have ever shifted from the position that they were set. However, I would suggest that you be aware that uneven surfaces- such as the wood chips I mentioned - would effect the sturdiness and safety of the item.These were purchased for a special needs 3 year old to use indoors for practice with balance and color identification. Our children and neighbor friends -aged 3 thru13- also use these. They have a variety of ways to play with them: scattering them, lining them up, placing them in a circle, and making an obstacle course with them. I feel they encourage both structured and imaginative play.They have never scuffed or damaged any of our various flooring in any way.We also use these outside in the same manner that we use them indoors. The kids have used these for games such as tag (the stones are safe bases) and as parts of obstacle courses they create. The stones have endured the heat of summer and occasional rainstorms without being damaged. I do not know how much these would fade with continued exposure to the elements. I would recommend that, if you want to mantain their vibrancy, they be stored out of the elements when not in use.The picture I have included is to show the varying sizes of the stones. Please note that only the 6 stones with the arrows pointing at them are included with this purchase. The others that are shown here are Gonge Hilltops which can be purchased separately (which, by the way, I also recommend). I have never used the Riverstones independent of the Hilltops, nor have any of my children. I feel younger kids would be completely content with having only the Riverstones, but older children would probably not find as much enjoyment without having the addition of the larger hilltops.

This toy has been an absolute hit in our household, providing endless fun and adventure for our 2 year old.Durability is a key factor for us when it comes to children's toys, and these stepping stones did not disappoint. They are made of sturdy, high-quality plastic that can withstand the rough and tumble play. Our little one has jumped, hopped, and balanced on these stones, and they've shown no signs of wear and tear after 6 months outside.One of the benefits we've discovered is how these stepping stones encourage imaginative STEM play. The possibilities are limited only by your child's imagination.

I was hesitant to pay this much money for what appears to be a very simple "toy" for my toddler, but I have not regretted this purchase at all. My daughter (2.5 years old) and her cousin (same age) have had a blast walking on these river stones. My daughter has always been a bit behind in terms of physical development and coordination, so when these first arrived, she just walked on a stone with one foot and put her other foot on the carpet. However, she has made a lot of progress in the last month, and now often links 3-4 of the "stones" together. Her cousin, on the other hand, has been a pro since day one, so we challenge him by moving the stones further apart (so he can jump a little bit) and putting other objects (pillows, large blocks) in the path to make it longer. It is nice that these stack together so well so we could take them to relatives' houses or on trips if need be. I can see that it would be nice to have more (or to have the larger "Hilltops" pieces), but for now, we are very happy with the flexibility of this set. I'm going to recommend these to our local ECFE program, too!Note: I know the weight limit is listed at 150lbs, but my husband (180lbs.) has spent a fair bit of time on these as well, and they are just fine! :)

LOVE these! Like seriously love them! And so does my toddler :) I bought these since I have noticed my toddler is a bit "clumsy" and tends to trip a lot. Also due to how cold it has been we haven't had any outside play to burn off energy. Already I can see an improvement in her being able to catch herself better when it looks like she is about to fall. I would like to emphasize she has no medical issues and this seems mostly due to a lacking core so this is one item out of a few that we purchased to help strengthen those muscles.These also stack very well so when they are not in use they don't take up much space. They do have a rubber trim around the whole edge so they don't slip or move on laminate or tile flooring. The colors are bright and eye catching especially to a 2.5 yr old. They feel like they are quite sturdy and will be long lasting even with frequent/regular use.I did see where another person suggested flipping them over and tossing bean bags in them and we are definitely going to try that.Any toy than can serve multiple functions for multiple children is awesome in my opinion. I have a 10 month old who has been trying to crawl over these so I know he will also enjoy them when he is walking.

My trainer uses these in obstacle balance courses and they are great! They have been very helpful. Very durable for kids of all ages.
