I am a lover of dragons! I enjoy both real life and fantasy dragons. But I was a very surprised on the the scope and coverage of dragons from all across the world in this book. The art work is magnificent and true to the individual dragon. Bjorn K. Johansson has produced a dragon lovers dream!

First: the "art". Cheap-as-Hell AI based that is waayyy too colorful and oversaturated. On top of that, few of the dragons depicted look *anything* like how they are described in the myths and legends listed in the book.Second, and most importantly: the content. "The Book of Dragons", at least in the description, paints itself as a theoretical field guide. In reality, it's a collection of short stories. And filled with so many inaccuracies in the retelling, Ix̌m pretty sure the author pulled them out of his exit ramp! They barely follow the original stories and myths, these might as well be fanfics! The author *never* sites his sources for the myths and stories, which is a *huge* red flag!Save yourself the price: look elsewhere.

This full color book covers 50 dragons. The dragons are from the Andes region of South America, Babylon, Bali, Bhutan, China, Egypt, England, Finland, France, Greece, Haiti, Hawaii, Iceland, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Libya, Mesopotamia, Mexico, New Zealand, North America, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Wales, West Africa, and the western Pyrenees region of Europe. Each entry is informative and has a great color illustration that takes up two pages. My only quibble is that as each illustration takes up to two pages, sometimes the fold ruins the art a tad. This does not justify my docking a star off of the top rating, I am just pointing this out. Not many books on dragons cover Aido Hwedo, Amaru, Mo'o Kuna, and Taniwah. For the variety and the great pictures, this deserves five stars.
