Axis Crossing: Gate Ghosts, Book 1

Strong start to a new series
This new series blends new and old. New sets of human settlers with Self Aware Digital Entities (SADE) about 5 centuries after the events of the Silver Ships series. No surprise, the AI Sisters are major antagonists. The events surrounding their departure in the Silver Ships made their next steps of biological domination a foregone conclusion so no surprise to see them pop up in Gate Ghosts. This is an exciting read - slow in places where politicking happens - but picks up speed where it matters. I’m on to the next!

Another branch.
Thank you Scott, I don't know where this is heading yet, but I'm looking forward to the journey. It stands alone well, but better if you've read the Omnian saga. Scott's writing and style is maturing, but feels comfortable and familiar as it did back at the very beginning. As usual I can't wait for the next instalment .

Much needed
After finishing conclave. I couldn't believe it was the end of the silvers ships after 20 books. It had only seemed like yesterday when I read and wrote my review on book 1. Scott, You very kindly responded to me by email. When I started to read Axis crossing and very soon realised it was connected to the original story, it gave me a very warm feeling as all your previous books had done.I love the continuing story of the Sades and their new companions. This has cheered me up following a last difficult 16 months. Thankyou.

Welcome back Sades
Another absolute winner! So good to catch up with the Sades centuries on, with lots of references to Alex & friends. Axis Crossing certainly promises to be just as captivating as the Silver Ships series was and hopefully this new series will be just as long! Let’s hope there will be a further spin-off series filling the centuries between the ending of the Pyrean series and the first Silver Ships book, any chance please?

Sades are back
Brilliant follow up to the silver ships. Some of the story is a bit rushed but the exploration of motivations of the sisters is welcome. Looking forward to getting through this entire series as well.Shame that Alex, Renee, Mickey are no longer around

Continuations of Alliance Saga
SADES V The Militaristic Sisterhood. The Sisters wishing to dominate Sentients are being thwarted by the SADES set free hundreds of years in the past by Alex Racine. Great series following Z and Miranda in their quest to make the Sisters leave sentient domination in favour of just helping out to improve the planet situations.

Another classic in the making
Loved Silver Ships, actually felt sad when it ended. Eagerly awaited SJ's next series Gate Ghosts and have not been let down. I love the new characters, skillfully moulded as usual by the author with a flicker of the past coming through to remind us of Alex and co. Cannot wait for the second instalment.

Very good read, and good follow up to silver ships series
Very good series, though reading the silver ships series first is recommended not not required for the story, you will miss out on background details

Bravo!! Well done Mr. Jucha, very well done indeed.
Its always difficult to start a new series after feeling so strongly about the previous one, especially when the previous was as entrancing and compelling as The Silver Ships was. I'm very happy to say that Axis Crossing met every expectation and quickly grabbed me and held my attention throughout. Mr Jucha h paints a vivid and compelling story from start to finish with a efficiency and ease that one sincerely wishes more authors were capable of. With Axis Crossing, we have a rich new tapestry of both grit and grandeur along with characters that the reader can quickly identify with who face struggles which we can identify with at an emotional level. Even before the entrance of old friends, Axis Crossing was a story I was fully invested in almost from the go. As i hadn't read the description and had no idea that Axis Crossing was.in the Silver Ships universe it was a pleasant surprise to see some of our old friends and some of the previously hanging threads from Silver Ships taken up.S. H. Jucha has a gift for narrative and his stories are perfectly paced. Never dragging, never rushed, and told with an economy of words Axis Crossing is a joy to read that leaves you eagerly anticipating the next installment. Bravo!! Well done Mr. Jucha, very well done indeed.

Enjoy the new and Trust the Author
I bought this book and then held off reading it. I enjoyed the Silver Ships series so much that something new worried me. Would I enjoy the new series as much? As I got further into the book though I told myself I should have trusted the author. Is it as good as the Silver Ships? Yes and no.Being a new series we have to meet the new. As I read I started to “attach” to the new. As the author got to about half way into the book he introduced some of the old from the Silver Ships series. That grounded the new a bit for those of us coming from the Silver Ships series. As I finished this book I am still torn. Many of us spent years getting comfortable with Alex, Julian, and Renee and the entire family of Silver Ships characters including our favorite SADEs. I will miss the old characters assuming the author doesn’t go back at some point to the original series. What about the new family? I enjoyed meeting the new characters and seeing some of the old return. My hope is that this new family will become as loved as the old. Time will tell but the style, intent, and flair is the same from the author. This book reads very similarly to the Silver Ships series and so I will trust Scott as he shows us more of the new and hope for a bright new series to go along with the old Silver Ships series. Time will tell but I am willing to trust by buying the next two books now and seeing what comes as the series moves forward.

Another Great Series
I'm glad I decided to give this series a chance since it hasn't disappointed! The variety and complexity of the Silver Ships Universe just keeps expanding. When I tell people about the complexity of the SADE's origin and growth, it makes me realize all over again what a rich reality Jucha has created for our enjoyment.
