I actually got this on Stuff My Kindle Day: curvy main characters edition-yes, the main character, Laci is curvy! I liked that it wasn’t the focus point. It’s mentioned a few times and then not really mentioned again.I really enjoyed the majority of the book: Jordan is a footballer, Scottish, has a filthy mouth and is quite funny; he was giving me Roy Kent (Ted Lasso) vibes.Laci is a plus size model-she was cute. Their relationship was pretty adorable and spicy.I didn’t like the supernatural aspect, but that’s not to say you won’t.🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

This was a very fun read. Laci is such a sweet character - her vulnerability mixed with her self-assuredness was great. Her relationship with her family was so heart warming. The way the fantasy/ghost element was interwoven into this otherwise romcom story was VERY well done!*spoilers*Something that made me uncomfortable was how much of the initiative Laci was putting into the relationship- from dm-ing him first, to proposing the fake dating, to asking him to take her virginity, saying I love you first, offering to introduce to the parents first, to even proposing? I think the plot would have been better if it was Jordan who was the one that offered to be her bodyguard, as it would then make sense why he kept rejecting her sexual advances; to maintain his word/honor. His love for her, while described BEAUTIFULLY in his internal monologues, just was a lot of tell, not show.

This story was fun. It does have spice, but I liked that it was not the main point of the story.The UK language was a really fun take for me, and I loved feeling like I was immersed in a culture that was slightly different than mine.Both characters were fun and had good personalities. I do wish they were developed a bit more (I feel like it was more surface level).

This book was magical there’s no better word for it!! I won’t get into it too much other than to say it was a nice contemporary story with a touch of historical magic!No third act break up which I loved and the couple was pretty straight forward with one another (aside from a few times but overall very forthcoming.) Anyway the heroine was plus size but there was no negativity in her mind towards her body whatsoever (which a great round of applause to Kelsey Painter because I loved the self love) and her family was all great! The hero on the other hand was always so loving with the heroine but he came with the truly emotional baggage with his parents but thankfully he was able to overcome. His sister was the best!I think this is all I can say without spoiling anything. If I haven’t convinced you yet just know that I read it in one sitting and really it was extraordinary I think it might be a new favorite!

This was a sweet, lovely story with a hint of spice and a little danger to round it all out. Truly well done and engaging from start to finish. Laci & Jordan were such fun to watch grow.

This book is so fricken cute! I love it so much. Definitely a top read of 2024! I went in it thinking it was going to be just a normal sports romance. I was excited! Love me some sports romances, but it was so much more than that! So much more! Definitely pick it up because it's so much more than a simple sports romance!
