Great product.
So far so good. Bought it to add to my potting soil and all my plants are thriving. I haven't had a single issue with root rot since repotting my plants with this charcoal added. Decent price for the amount you get, it goes quite a long ways. Some of the pieces can be a little big but I just scoop those off the top and use them for my plants that like chunkier soil (hoyas, string of hearts, etc).I will be buying another bag once I run out, can't imagine not including charcoal in my soil going forwards.

Help Houseplants Breathe
Perfect Remedy for Exhausted Houseplants.I inherited many houseplants when my aunt died. They lived in pots with the same soil for years. They were so sad and dull.Repotted and added this charcoal with the new soil. All of them found new life and grew so fast! Both the roots and everything above soil. Bright and happy plants!1 inch charcoal in bottom of pot.1 cup charcoal to four cups soil mixed well.

I don't know why plants love it, but they do
I have a lot of houseplants and lot of houseplant struggles. About 6 months ago I started using this horticultural charcoal in ALL my houseplants and so far I've had nothing but success with it. I use it to line bottom of every pot as well as mix it in with all my potting mixes. I wind up using about 1 bag per 2 plants on average (assuming I'm filling pot around 8"-12"). It is a little bit pricey but if my current results keep up, I will never repot another plant without it!I know there is a lot of debate about what exactly charcoal does for soil - some people say it "sweetens" the soil and prevents fungus and bacteria, some people say it does nothing but aid in air flow around the roots. Well, I can't claim to know exactly what it's doing but whatever it is - it's working.I've bought quite a few bags of this stuff and the size does vary a bit from bag to bag but in general it's about the size of the pieces you can see in my hand in my photo. I've bought some bags of this same brand at my local big box hardware store and they are the exact same as the ones I bought from amazon. Overall, I'm VERY pleased with mosser lee charcoal and would absolutely recommend giving it a try to see the difference in your houseplants for yourself.

Great product, works as intended.
Used this product to plant my succulents, seems to be helping regulate the moisture. Packaging is great and arrived timely. I wish the pieces were smaller to make it easier to layer.

Rusty Nail Surprise but Still Good
It’s a great product and I’ve been using this in all of my plants for almost a year now but as I’m using my fourth bag, a rusty nail just plopped out the bag into my soil mix. Unsure how it got in there, I’m unhurt, just so surprised to see that pop out of the bag! There’s bit of charcoal still stuck to it, not sure if that compromises the “organic” quality of the product left in the bag? I deducted1 star for that random item otherwise it works well in my potting mixes.

Essential Soil Amendment
Locating horticultural charcoal has been difficult at any of my local stores as no one seems to carry it so I’m grateful to have found it here. This is a very crucial amendment for my “soul recipes.” It increases the acidity level (or reduces the pH) of soil, which many plant species prefer.Uses:-I use a thin layer at the bottom of planters to reduce the risk of root rot.-I add approximately 10-15% to the soil I use to repot/divide my beloved Calatheas and around 20% for my aroid mix (primarily philodendrons).-I place a layer on the bottom of enclosed terrariums that house moss and humidity loving plants.-I use it along with other ingredients to create dry habitats with optimal circulation for my air plants.I like that the package is resealable so it doesn’t randomly burst open and make a terrible charcoal mess.

Great Product
When making a good aroid mix or a base for a terrarium having good charcoal is essential. This charcoal is very pure, perfect size and overall great consistency. Much better than other brands purchased in the past.

Good quality & fair price. Charcoal is not fine, lots of bigger chunks.
Good quality charcoal for an additive in my potting soil. The only thing I didn't like is the size of the charcoal is a bit large for smaller plants with smaller roots; I had to put some in a thick plastic bag & crush it down with a rubber mallet to make it small enough for my African Violet soil. I wish it was a bit finer.
