Replacing is easy
I replaced these on my Zodiac mx8, though they weren’t the issue. All these gears are made of plastic and wear out in time. I just replace all the moving parts at the same time. Good deal on Amazon!

Replacement parts for MX8 Pool Cleaner- Much cheaper than the OE manufacturer's prices for parts. Probably are the OE parts manufactured by whatever company in China that makes them for Polaris/ZodiacYou need to be sufficiently technical and handy to install these parts. I'm a Mechanical Engineer with several years of working on pool equipment when I was getting my engineering degree so I have taken apart and repaired lots of pool equipment.

Seem to work like the originals.
I don't know if we needed to replace these gears or not. Since my husband had it apart he went ahead and put these in. It went together easily and seems to work just fine. Price looks good for a pair. these drive shafts.
