Gone is the "burning hair smell"
The length of the Electric Candle Lighter keeps my hands away from my gas fireplace ignitions, and is it's best feature. Other positives: long battery life & battery life indicator. Get rid of those expensive long fireplace matches!

Makes me feel like a wizard 🪄
This review is for 15.75 inch New Extended Version Electric Candle Lighter with Flashlight | USB Candle Lighter Rechargeable, Aluminum Alloy | Plasma ARC Lighters for Candle | Camping Ignition (Black)Makes me feel like a wizard 🪄First of all, I didn't even know electric lighters were a thing. I go through candle lighters/fluid like you wouldn't believe, so color me chuffed at this discovery.Initial impression upon unboxing was confusion. I opened the packing and out fell white pvc(?) tube with ill-fitting caps on either end. The caps fell off immediately and the lighter slid out of it, hitting the floor. When I say "ill-fitting" I mean these scrappy looking metal caps literally just float on the ends; they fall right off if you flip them upside down. Alas, there's always one cap falling off and the lighter sliding out. I lost one of the caps before I could make it functional with a well-placed piece of tape or some glue. The tube seemed in line with something my "handy" dad would rig up rather than spend money for proper equipment or hiring someone qualified. Which, just like my father, does not fill me with confidence. No instructions included, but I was able to work things out.The actual unit itself seems to be of better quality than its storage tube, thank goodness. You turn the unit on via a sliding power toggle. Lights on the handle will pop on, which serves as a battery power indicator. Now you're ready to light, which is done by simply holding down a round button to activate the arc ⚡. *Both switches require little-to-no hand dexterity or strength. I have neuropathy and weakness in my hands which makes some buttons and switches challenging for me.In addition to the battery indicator near your thumb, there's a built-in light on the electric-end of the wand so you can easily see what you're trying to light. I like this feature for emergencies especially, as trying to light a candle in the dark can be trickyThe battery is charged via an included micro USB cord. I have since run the battery completely dead and recharged it via the included cord successfully. The charge seems to last quite a while. The space between the nodes is quite small. I frequently have to clean wax off the lighting end. Most of the wicks I've lit have been thicker than the space between the nodes. Hasn't been an issue for me, though.Overall, this has been a welcome tool to my utility box. It makes lighting candles a treat, especially those hard-to-reach wicks that require a long reach. Not messing with butane is a pro, as well as the cool zappy sound makes me feel like I have domain over nature itself.❗*Please be mindful there aren't really any childproof locks or interventions built in here, if that's a concern for you. I know as a young one, I'd have LOVED to get my grubby little pyro hands on something like this with which to melt my gummy bears instead of mother's cheap gas station lighters that made everything taste like butane.

Makes Candle Lighting Easy
I recently purchased a regular lighter for lighting my candles and quickly learned the design made it impossible to light a multi-wick candle and made it impossible to light a wick that was nearly non-existent. I saw this electric lighter and felt it could do the trick. I am happy to report all my candle lighting tasks are now a breeze. You definitely need to place the little electrode things very close to what you want to light, but I don't think you need to place them both around what you are igniting. They form a little arch and the electricity does go straight across (not like a "v"), but I think you just need to get really close to the thing you want lit. Since I am only using it to light candles, I can't be 100% sure of this theory but I tried to video how close things have to be to light. While no spark shoots out, I think just having one of the electrode things touch what you want lit will ignite it. This does mean that your lighter is very close to the fire when it is lit and I do think the end of the lighter gets burnt every time you do this. There is a smell of what seems like burning plastic that definitely comes off the lighter, but the lighter is not made of plastic.

It'll Drive the Kids Nuts
Evidently this emits a sound that only young ears can hear. I hear a slight hiss, but the kids hear a high-pitched screech. So, right there you get your money's worth. And what's cool is that it quickly lights your candles. I recommend it.

Not dependable.
Unit was not dependable. Seemed like there was a loose connection inside for the lighting part. The cover near the USB port also came off. Seems the Quality Assurance is not great.
