As an avowed DIYer I recently had opportunity to repair my gas water heater. I have a Rheem water heater and I followed the model number and found the correct part. I wanted hot water ASAP, and waiting for this kit to be delivered was not my idea of a good time. I got the single wire thermocoupler kit at my local big box store and got the part replaced and the hot water flowing within an hour or so. The issue with only replacing the thermocoupler wire is that the donut gasket on the door is almost always brittle and crumbly and needs to be replaced as well. This kit is not sold off the shelf at the big box store - WHY NOT is beyond me!?! So, after getting my hot water flowing I immediately ordered this kit and a few days later I pulled out the whole assembly and put this one in, with a properly tight donut gasket seal encompassing all three of the ignitor assembly wires. A very simple repair. Do yourself a favor and just buy this whole kit even if all you need is the thermocoupler -- because you will almost always need a new donut gasket as well. Good kit, good directions, easy repair, hot water flowing, right kit for the right model.

My hot water heater is 10+ years old. Check the water from the relief and drain valve - no rust (like my grandmothers hotwater heater). used this kit along the a replacement gas valve and works just like new. You'll see recommended lie span of a hot water heater is 10 years. Which is true of the valve, vut as long as there is no rust in the tank the tank itself will last. If you can do the work yourself you'll save a ton - and it is not very complicated.

The pilot light started going out in my natural gas water heater and when I removed the assembly and tried to remove the gas line to clean it out, the fragile tube got bent badly.None of the local hardware stores had replacements so I ordered this replacement kit for my 40 Gallon LG aka Rheem Natural Gas Water Heater Model PG40T09AVH00 and it was an almost an exact fit.I was able to remove the old assembly and replace it with this kit and everything just worked. I'm hoping it will last a while but it certainly saved me from having to replace my water heater and was a lifesaver.

After struggling to re-light the pilot on my water heater, I bought a new thermocouple at Home Depot and installed it. However during the process, the gasket to the burner door started falling apart, and the circular rubber plug which the thermocouple and the other wires in the assembly pass through cracked and fell apart. So I needed an entirely new assembly, and this was it. The packaging and product were clean and crisp, and the instructions were incredibly detailed, specific, and clear. Having watched a number of YouTube videos and already had to install a thermocouple before this, I was very impressed, and feel that anyone trying to follow these instructions will be in great shape. I 100% recommend this thermocouple assembly unit to anyone needing to replace the thermocouple on their gas water heater.
