Kaffe Fassett Quilts Shots and Stripes: 24 New Projects Made with Shot Cottons and Striped Fabrics

This is not my favourite Kaffe Fassett book, but you only need to take away one substantial idea, to have months of pleasure from the creation that results. I'm sure that there are half a dozen or more things I'd like to toy with after reading this.

Once again I am excited to try out these quilt patterns. I just recently retired and can now focus on my quilting and sewing. The colors are beautiful and inspirational. I downloaded this book to my kindle, then ordered it in hard copy as well. I have several of Kaffe Fassett’ s books. Truly beautiful and now I’m excited to sew! Just make sure to starch and cut exactly as stated. Have fun!

I will start out saying that I am a huge fan of Kaffe fabrics and books. This book is co-written with Liza Prior Lucy, who always adds an interesting perspective to his fabrics. This book is definitely different than his last 6 or so books because he has used completely new designs, focusing on the solids and stripes, and given us a nice assortment of more masculine looking quilts. There is a nice modern boldness to the solids that is very appealing, and he has done one quilt that is distinctly Amish. The beauty of the shot cottons is the sheen that changes depending on the direction of the fabric. I'm sure that the photographs, which are beautiful as always, don't do full justice to the quilts because of that subtle sheen in shot cottons. One thing I noticed immediately is that he has set some of his stripes with pastel shot cottons, and the look is very fresh and clean. He is also having the quilts machine quilted more heavily than his recent books have featured. I immediately saw several quilts that I want to replicate, and I also decided that I'd like to do a chevron design as a quilt (he shows some pillows done in solids), but using his woven stripes intermingled with some of the pastel shot cottons. Mouth watering as always. This book will be a winner for all those fans of Kaffe and Liza!

As expected, the book has several beautiful quilts, a few of which I hope to make in the near future. Kaffe is known for over the top color and design. The quilts in this book are gorgeous but not in his typical over the top way. At full price, I doubt I would have bought the book. But I found it at a good price on Amazon, and I am very glad I did.

This is one of my favorite of all of Kaffe Fassett's books. I fell in love with the quilt on the cover and just had to make it, although I did use some other colors for a bit brighter effect.The quilts in this book are a bit more subtle than the usual super vibrant colors in most of the quilts in Kaffe Fassett books. As the title indicates, Kaffee Fassett's line of shot cottons and stripes are the primary 'ingredients' in these quilts. Many of the patterns are based on "old time" classics that are "re-invented" by using more modern color choices. I find that I need to starch the KF line of shot cottons since they are fairly lightweight and I have also become very fond of Pepper Cory's new line of shot cottons from Studio-E because they have a bit more heft.This book is a keeper for me and, judging from the number of friends who have purchased it after looking through my copy, it holds a wide appeal for both "Kaffe-a-holics" and "regular" quilters alike!

This book was first published in a year when other things consumed my attention than my love for quilting. Years later I found the book in my local library. With a huge stash of striped fabric,some actually featured in the quilts in the book, I wanted a copy for myself. This book is a bit smaller in format but in much better shape than I expected. Hard cove. Good color.

Fassett always offers superior books for quilters. I am never disappointed and this is one of the best of his books, a definite must for quilters.

Once again, kaffe Fassett has presented a delightful feast for the eyes and an opportunity for quilters to think about design and colour. I am always thrilled when a new Kaffe Fassett book comes out and I have never been disappointed. I have them all and spend many quiet, happy moments delighting in them, curled up on the settee with the dog, a cup of tea, dreaming about what fabrics I would use for a particular quilt design. Pure joy!

As you would expect from Kaffe Fassett another book of brightly coloured quilting projects using his beautiful shot and striped fabrics - plenty of quilts for every level. I would like to try them all - so have to save up to get the material! still its a great book that looks good.

Another excellent book from Kaffe Fassett's collections. The projects are very colourful and interesting. I think this is a book that all quilters could use. Very clearly explained and well illustrated.

This is a gorgeous attractive book, full of ideas for quilting at various skill levels. Very clear and accessible. The projects are exciting, and add a new dimension to Kaffe's legendary style catalogue.
