Fantastic little powerful axe
I bought this after much mooching around the interweb. I needed a hand axe to climb inside a few trees and make some big branches safe.I already knew Fiskers as an amazing brand and I was specifically looking at a Fiskers axe. . .I'll say from the get go that this is a small-ish axe but it can easily manage bigger jobs than it's designed for! Some specs. . .- Fiskers have been going for hundreds of years - made in Finland - amazing quality- Just over 9 inches long- 480g- Fibre glass reinforced plastic handle in the classic Fiskars orange- Steel very sharp axe head- Safety sheath includedI've added a few pics at the end of the blurb. . .Do not let the 480g/plastic handle put you off. The handle is very well designed and manufactured and super robust. No way it's going to break in normal use. As for the weight - it's absolutely spot on for what it is - a camping axe. Perfect to throw in a rucksack for outdoor use as well as for around the garden. In use. . .Brilliant! I knew it would be the second I got hold of it. It feels great and well balanced in the hand. It has a very nice 'swing' to it too! Small but powerful. The edge is very sharp upon delivery so it's ready to go out the box!Today I've started cleaning one of my 25 years old 40ft conifers up. There's s few big branches hanging out and bouncing around in the wind. They need to come off. I've been up inside the tree and stratigically removed quite a bit of the tree with this axe. Some branches were 4-6 inches thick. It took me only two minutes of chopping to remove the 6 inch ones. I didn't have to swing like a maniac either. Nice firm swings placed precisely made light work of the job. Thanks to the sharp edge. All this wood will not go to waste as I've started stripping them down and making kindle/firewood using the axe. We'll have a few good fires - nice food and a few beers thanks to it!I honestly have no negative issues with this one. A really good little axe. Definitely a keeper 🧡 Thanks for reading 👍🏼

An ax for all seasons - every rural home should have one
Very sharpVery durable - practically indestructible as far as I can seeFeels good when using - good all rounder but I mainly use it for chopping short logs into kindlingI imagine a Viking would have loved it back in the day too

Great hatchet
I’ve used this a few times now in the woods and it certainly does the job. I’m personally not a big fan of the bulky sheath and integral handle but that’s just Fiskars’ style. It’s weighted well and easy to keep a sharpe edge. Do note that if you leave it wet under the sheath it’ll be prone to rust, so make sure to wipe off any moisture before stowing away

Heavy and sharp
Went with the X7 over the X5 as I wanted something a bit more sizeable, but still small enough to be portable to go camping with. This is the best of both worlds I think.I underestimated the weight of this thing, it feels pretty heavy, even though the handle is hollow. It is very solidly made and the axe itself comes delivered sharp! No problems chopping and splitting wood with this thing straight out the box.The plastic sheath is a bit meh! Does the job but feels cheap and there is a little movement with it, which can get annoying when carrying it on a backpack.Overall, this is a quality, sharp axe that performs very well indeed.

WOOOOW
this is amazing for a small hatchetwent camping this weekend, and a friend who is much more experienced than me remarked how shocked he was at its ability to out perform any expectations you might have of it. you think its gonna take half an hour to cut through that tree? think again.Think it'll take 16 chops to cut through that branch? it can do it in 5 my friend. Although technique is just as important as your axe, and we were always cutting in a V shape.there was really nothing it couldnt handle in a short amount of time.It was easy for me to sharpen afterwards on a whetstone: just hold the flat 1cm blade edge flat-against the whetstone while pushing it (doing this on both sides), until it gained its edge back, and then it was scary sharp again.its just a HUGE amount of fun on top of being a fantastic and cheap axe, that also looks great in my opinion as well! and the size is a big thing as well it can fit in any of my smaller sized back-packs.I'll also add that i saw someone else's X7 a few months ago, and it was useless/blunt because they never sharpened it. So take care of your hatchet, it'll only give you what you put in.

Great axe which keeps a good edge.
After installation of wood burner and acquiring large amounts wood required to downsize logs and make kindling. Even though only a hand axe it is still heavy and sharp enough to split logs with one blow. Will be acquiring larger version in the near future to keep it company. A good sturdy axe with a good grip with a handy case to protect the head and also to protect the user. Even after a large amount of chopping logs the blade kept its edge which I found out to my cost while splitting some old planking for kindling, managed to shave my thumb (nice and clean though). Well worth the money for a good quality product.

A perfect & robust light camping axe
Fiskars has come up with a virtually perfect rough or wild camping axe. Light, superbly designed, durable, small axe with an excellent blade. It is not ideal for trekking through the Canadian wilderness, felling enormous conifers, and then floating them down from the logging areas by river to the sawmills. For some of these reviews the clue should have been in the title "Fiskars Camping Axe!!!"
