A very good 'Basic' Computer.
I've just fitted my sixth Velo 9 to one of my bikes, so now all my bikes have one fitted. This last one was to replace a Cateye wireless computer I bought because it promised easier setting up and a cleaner look, there being no wires trailing about. It was a success on both counts. Less successful was when using my front light - the computer didn't work at all as presumably the light interrupted the signal. Then it stopped reading over 20 mph, so I just went ahead and replaced it with something I know works very well indeed - the Cateye Velo 9.Yes it's basic, but if like me all you really want to know is how far places are and your odo for each bike then this fits the bill. They seem pretty accurate speed and distance wise and are a doddle to programme in, including the wheel/tyre size. The only part I'd question would be the accuracy of the calory counter, but that's no biggie. On the whole then, I like these computers a lot!

Good, simple cycle computer
I wanted a wired one so I would not need to think about charging batteries, and this works fine. It does not have a backlight, which would be nice, but I generally use it to keep an eye on the time on my cycle to the railway station to avoid missing the train, and it is fine for this! Seems pretty accurate with speed readings (when compared to smartphone).

No frills but solid reliable and easy to fit
Got fed up with a wireless computer I was using dropping the speed sensor signal at times - if you are 30 miles into a ride and you look down to see zero speed you instantly know your averages, time etc etc are all messed up - how annoying is that? This unit (as with all past wired Cateyes I've used - and there have been several...) seems fit and forget reliable. The sensor is the one they have used for years and is not too fussy about position. It doesn't need to be 'touching' the magnet to get a constant reading like some others do - a 3 or 4 mm gap works perfectly.Yes its wired so you do need to run that wire neatly to the sensor - hardly difficult. The sensor itself is much smaller than wireless units as a result though - so for me its actually much less 'visible' overall.Good price, accurate and works reliably - 5 stars then.

Clear display, easy to use. Ideal for the tech averse.
I'm no Stravaneer, don't want to know how fast my feet are flailing nor how fast my heart is revving, I basically just want to know how far places are and how far/long I've ridden. I've got two of these Cat Eye Velo 9 computers, and a Velo 7 on my bikes, and they all work very well for my needs. Large and clear display is easy to read, and setting it up is straightforward. This latest purchase was for a fat bike, and the included tyre settings chart didn't include such an oddball wheel and tyre combo. But, it's easy enough to measure one rotation of the wheel along the ground and manually input that figure. Battery life seems good so far, the Velo 7 is still on its original battery after about two years. This Velo 9 computer also records calories burned (how accurate that figure will be is anyone's guess but still...) and how many carbon thingies or Penguins have been saved, by not taking a car presumably, so you can feel all smug.A simple and straightforward computer for those of us who don't want to hook our bikes up to satellites or spend hours examining data every time we go for a ride,

Easy to use and accurate
Very nifty little device if you don't want a full fledged Garmin or similar. Seems very accurate and is very easy to use. Shows the time, tracks speed on top and underneath you can choose between different stats. Distance, AVG speed, Elapsed Time, Max Speed, ODO, c02 offset and calories burnt (does not factor in your weight). If you do longer rides often the battery would probably last 1-2 years and is a standard button battery you can buy for cheap anywhere. easy to install, just hook up the sensor to your fork, use the zip ties & sticky pads to attack the stem, put the magnet onto your spoke and off you go. The unit is also removable from the base, so you can take it with you so it doesn't get stolen!I will be using this until I get a Garmin :D

Good solid product
I bought this having previously foolishly gone for an unknown brand that broke after one ride. On this (slightly more expensive) replacement the instructions, though visual only, were easy to follow and once installed it worked right away with no fiddling required. Seems accurate enough and the functions are easy to control. So pretty happy with it. I would have given it five stars were it not for the fact that it is secured with cable ties, which I don't like. I prefer an old fashioned nut and bold. But all in all, satisfied with the purchase.

Well-built wired cycle computer with all the features I need
Unlike the previous cycle computer I had this one has never had a problem with being out in heavy rain . It has everything I want - ability to set the wheel size accurately and all the obvious measurements. It also has a couple of pointless ones: it can give you a number for CO2 emissions saved based on some hypothetical average car, and calories burnt calculated without reference to the rider's weight, but all useful stuff (distance, mean speed, max speed, duration) is there. If you want an old-school wired cycle computer this is as good as any I've come across.

Great Bike Computer
Easy to install and highly visible when in use.

The good ol' days are back! Velo 9 is simple and it works.
I've had bad luck with wireless cycle computers - dodgy connections, two batteries to worry about, and questionable data. I didn't want to get a GPS unit, what with all the charging they require. I longed for my good old days when cycle computers were relatively new, and Cateye ruled in the tiny computer category. The Velo 9 isn't as small as my gold old days, but it's simple and it works! It looks good; the wire isn't any more noticeable than an oversized sensor on the front fork. Programming is a bit clunky, but that's normal when your computer only has one front button. Once set up, it hits its milage and speed spot-on. That's all I really needed!
