Great Lyre to design for yourself
I have seen this make yourself lyre for a while. I decided it would be fun to make one myself. Not sure what type of wood it was but it seems very sturdy. I went ahead and ordered other items to make it to my liking. Gold pegs and inserts to protect the wood with the metal strings that came with it. I also used a wood stain and a sealer instead of the paints that came with it. I was able to tune it easily and very accurately with my tuner. It sounds wonderful and is worth the money to have the fun designing your own pentatonic 7 string lyre and playing it.
