Bought for my niece for Christmas, she loved this gift the most! She uses it to this day still. Great book for learning!

I bought this to teach my 5 year old daughter how to crochet. I am an expert crocheter and knitter and was looking for a book that would help my little one visually since she cannot read yet. I read the reviews before buying this book and noticed one comment made about the UK stitch names being used and no US stitch terms. Both stitch names are present and explained clearly, so I do not agree with that reviewer. But, there are some rather misleading images in this book -- such as in the directions on how to seam two pieces of crochet, the images used are of knitted items, so beware. pros: - simple, cute projects a child might enjoy making. - clear images showing how to make the stitch. - both UK and US stitch terms -- I see this as a plus because some of the really difficult crochet patterns out there may be using UK terms, so I think starting early is a good thing. cons: - the use of knitted items to show how to piece crochet items -- publisher, please fix this! - not as extensive a list of items for kids to make I would have liked to see a gallery of suggested crocheted items, a way for kids to be inspired to combine stitches, even if they are newbies to crochet.

It should be noted that it is written in British English (BE) so some terms will have different meanings in American English (AE). For example, a double crochet in BE is actually a single crochet in AE. It is noted in the book but can be confusing if you forget while you're reading through. Otherwise, actual step-by-step instructions and the large images are helpful.

Gave as a gift to a 10 yo. She loved it.

My granddaughter loves the book. She can understand it and great photos to show you what the stitches come together.
