Template to rout a cavity in a guitar body, or pickguard cutout to fit a standard Humbucker pickup. These versatile and economical templates are allow you to accurately rout both the body cavities and holes in pickguards to for standard humbucker pickups. The templates are CNC cut from 12mm MDF and are very accurate and solid. The 12mm thickness allows for easy routing in multiple steps. They're etched with centrelines for easy alignment on the guitar body or pickguard. These templates are used with a router fitted with one of our Ball Bearing Router Bits. The ball bearing will follow the shape of the template and cut a perfectly matching shape out of the guitar body or pickguard. The template can be attached using either 3M Double-Sided Tape, clamps, or screws into a part of the body that will be covered. It's best to rout a pickup cavity in several shallow passes rather than one deep pass. Typically 2-6mm deep can be routed at a time but this will depend on the timber and how sharp the bit is. Once the bearing is lower than the template and riding along the cavity in the body, you can remove the template and continue to rout the cavity deeper, using the cavity itself as a guide for the ball bearing.
