I would NEVER buy this product and YOU SHOULD NOT EITHER! If you are thinking about getting this for your kid or as a gift DON'T!! hermit crabs are NOT good beginner pets and are not kids pets. First off the tank is AWFUL hermit crabs need 10 gallons MINIMUM EACH to thrive. And you should consider getting a glass tank because it holds the 70% humidity that they NEED to breath with a GLASS lid to hold in humidity. next Hermit crabs need two deep dishes that they can get in and out of easy one with fresh water and one with salt water and one for food. sponges are not necessary. hermit crabs need a variety diet of fruits and veggies and protein to live the 20 years they can live. hermit crabs need stimulation and LOTS of stuff to clime on not ONE branch. They also need 3 shells EACH to be able to choose what they want and swap with each other. The palm tree is USELESS and unnecessary. They also need 6 inches of coconut fiber to be able to MOLT!! hermit crabs should also not be shipped they are very delicate animals that should not be handled often. they get stressed easy and will die from it. I had a hermit crab given to me because someone could not take care of it properly. it had worse living conditions then this product has and was most likely close to death. When i got him into my care he got a 30 gallon tank a hermit friend good food and stimulation, etc. he is doing great and thriving. I do not support hermit crabs as pets! I only have on because it was a life or death situation. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU GET ANY PET!!!!! AND DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!!!

Please do more research online, unless you want your hermit crab to die a slow painful death. I am just a person who did the research. Hermit crabs need to have more than one hermit crab at least two others so they don't die of depression etc. They are social animals that live in groups. They also need space the more crabs you have the more space you need go to: hermit-crabs.com, or hermitcrabassociation.com to read more about the care of hermit crabs.Crabs cannot survive long term in this. They need heat. Humidity. 6" minimum of a sand mixture for molting. This will just provide them with a slow death. They can live 30+ years if taken care of right.Most food sold in stores and online is poison to them. I did a ton of reading and research. The only organic food, good for them I could find was online at hermitcrabpatch.com. Please do more research.

This product is totally inadequate & using it will result in your crab dying within a year at best. As another reviewer mentioned, crabs need much more than this to survive for very long - and under good conditions, these animals can live in excess of twenty years.Don't buy: inhumane & a waste of money!!

Terrible setup inadequate in /every/ way.Please research Hermits before you bring one into your family, just as you would any other pet. There are many reliable sources like The Hermit Crab Association that will be glad to help out! :)
