*** WARNING ***
If your ultimate goal is to seriously hurt or kill yourself, then this product is perfect for you. For everyone else; this product is made from the lowest quality standards allowed in China, and should be banned in the US.In theory the concept is great. Unfortunately they cut costs so much that Amazon shouldn’t be selling this due to a serious threat to public safety. (I’m hoping Amazon looks into this one)To start with; the heavy, clunky device is secured (for lack of a better word) to your foot with only a single, flimsy, nylon strap. Cinched in place via a cheap aluminum fastener. To make matters worse, the cheap fastener is held in place to the nylon strap by a single ribbit. * Half way up a tree one of them literally slid off my foot and fell at least 15’ to the ground (look at the product picture - only one little strap). Climbing back down wasn’t fun to say the least. The device is not only a little on the heavy side, but clunky and will often open up too much, or not at all, when least desired, making it difficult to ascend safely. The locking carabiner used for the safety strap (that goes around the tree) is a complete joke. It’s the first carabiner I am actually scared of. The so-called locking mechanism is nothing more than a cheap tube of aluminum with a “C” grove cut into it. This carabiner actually makes it more dangerous trying to rework it again after it unlocks itself during a climb. This is pathetic at best. And obviously hasn’t passed or undergone any safety tests. This product should have been designed to be used for climbing to potentially hazardous heights and “safety” should have been the most important concern. Obviously it was not.The above is only my opinion and a serious warning to anyone looking to purchase this. If you order one after reading this…can you at least put me in your will? I’ll hold you beer.
