Nice starter and gift item
I purchased this Bonsai starter kit for myself because I want to use the opportunity of great weather and get them to sprout before summer so it has a good growing season. And I didn't want to fill up my small space with bags of soil and supplies I just don't have space to store them in.The kit includes 5 hardy plastic pots and their drip trays. The pots have large drainage, great for not allowing the bonsai to sit in over-watered soil (bonsai normally don't like to have their feet to stay wet). The small tools and scissors are space saving and the instructions are written well enough to follow without questions (accept for the Sakura "4. Turn over soil veryday". I still don't know what it means to turn over soil but that's the ONE complaint I have of this kit. I'm sure I can Google for clarification). There are plenty of seeds of each of the 5 trees.I have not started sprouting the seeds yet so I can't review on the health or viability of the seeds.I do wish they printed the amount of time it will take for the trees to flower. If they are similar to the larger version in yards and gardens it can take years for trees like wisteria to get blooms, and bonsai are meant to grow slow, and to be cared for, and to treat like an infant with sensitive skin (protect from dehydration and direct sunlight but give enough water, food, and light to be healthy). We don't want to leave a bonsai without care for too long because those tiny roots need water and nourishment. When going on holiday be sure to have a plant sitter who knows how to take care of bonsai. These are tips I wish they printed on the instructions.

It's 50/50
I didn't go by the instructions since I'm not the traditional planter/ gardener and I used a hydroponic system instead and later re-potted. Overall, I waited about 2 months to review, some of the seeds grew and some of them didn't... I just knew that I was taking my chances. In the pictures are two different acacia seeds and by far they're growing very healthy and strong. The soil given is similar to cacti soil and I also have a mixture of bioactive substrate that works as nutrition and drainage which is what is seen at the top layer and I also used it as a bottom layer. It's a great gardening project and I throughly enjoyed watching them grow and thrive. Of course if need be, use your gardening method that will work and make sure to research the plant and what us needed for them to thrive. Now currently working on the black pine and a few are growing as well. I hope this helps.

Growing week 1
I’m sure I’ll review this again in a month or two. One thing that worked for me was just having the seeding in the water a bit longer to see the white. The wisteria is not showing any white yet. The Sakura is about to hit day 7 in the water with no sign of white yet. Bought a heat lamp to help going forward.

Nice starter kit. Directions messed up!
Nice starter kit. Only thing I found was directions on packs are all same for each seed but directions on the box different for each. True directions are on box for each seed. I didnt notice this at first and used seed pack instructions so nothing sprouting, glad I didn't use all seeds at once. I have one pack instructions and box instructions pictured they are totally different. Good luck

Easy to grow
We used a terrarium to start them. Just a cheap seed starter kit for the garden from your local hardware store. It comes with a lot of seeds except the wisteria, there was only 5 seeds and they molded when my husband tried to grow them in the same container as the othet seeds. None of the other seeds developed mold. You'll need dirt in addition to the kit.It would make a great gift. My husband is quite thrilled.

Bought as a gift
I bought this as a birthday gift for my mother and she absolutely loves them. A few of the seeds haven’t sprouted despite our best efforts (we learned bonsai kits themselves aren’t the best). But despite not getting more than two types of bonsai to sprout, she still loves them very much.

Most of the seeds grew...
There are individual instructions for each of the (5) bonsai plants, which I followed meticulously.Four of the five grew - the Maple, Black Pine, Wisteria and Acacia.
