In my opinion a kayak crate of some sort is a necessary addition to every kayak angler and the Wilderness Systems Krate is the premuim crate for kayaks.Rod holders on the side work for almost all kayaks and work without the included extensions in my sportsman salty 120. The holders holster all of my baitcaster and spinning rods and also hold all of my nets. For kayaks with narrower space you can install the extensions.The lid is a slick tinted plexiglass/lexan. Those of us who build pc's know all to well how this material scratches. So yes, it will scratch and likely to have scratches when you open the shipping box. Add a bit of auto wax and call it a day cause other kayak fisherman will look at this crate with envy.My only gripe with this crate is that it's difficult to find additional rod holders in Canada but that's with so many things in Canada. As stated in the documentation, if you were to add six rod holders you will have to shave down the tie down loops on both sides of the crate and that is a permanent removal.

I’ve taken my kayak krate three times now. Twice in the bay and once in the ocean and I’m very impressed. I love the top clear compartment. I put my sensitive items in there like my ID and fishing license. All my tackle boxes fit inside neatly. All my rods sit in the rod tubes securely and have the option of putting them at angle which I use when I’m in the harbor with all the boat traffic. The rubber toggles to open and securely close the krate work very well especially out on the water with wet hands. I have had the livewell bait tank from wilderness systems for awhile and was impressed with the quality so decided to get their krate and am not at all disappointed. Wilderness systems Accessory department has been on a roll with great quality kayaking accessories.

Love that the space within is able to hold my cooler box.. The extra 4 rod holders is a plus! Price is abit high originally but luckily, i bought it at half the price.
