Q: how long does the treat last?

I also came here searching for how long these chews are meant to last! Glad to see my doggy isn’t the only piggy. My Golden Retriever/Labrador mix devoured half of it within minutes! I took it away, because I didn’t want him eating too much and possibly having a tummy upset. He was totally fine and hasn’t had the other half yet. Maybe this is a treat meant for smaller dogs? Either way, the doggies LOVE it.

Q: When there's a small end left has anyone tried to microwave it, like the pkg recommends?

Yes I have watched my son do it! Friendly FYI: it is very hot when getting out of microwave!! It puffs up like a pork rind, but needs to be cooled for at least 30 minutes. My granddog loves it!!

Rebecca, I have a doxy 11 mos. old, and she only gets her Yak bones once a day, only for 15-20 mins. She has a very strong jaw, and I have had to change to a medium bone for her. I tried to heat the bones after they get to be 1 1/2" in size, but she just doesn't seem to want them that way. So I ditch them. I keep her "chewed" bones in an open container, so they dry out each day. I also make her stay near me while she chews, as I want to watch her and make sure she doesn't get anything caught in her throat. They stay good for along time, but one of them had a black mark inside it I noticed. When she got down to it, I took it away and tossed it. I do not know what it was, but I didn't like it. I found this information on the website, www.HimalayanDogChew.com "We purchase direclty from the farmers, and help them make that extra money in one year, that they would have been able to make in five years by selling the chews. As of November 2011, there are over about 900 farmers (family) who make these chews for the Himalayan Dog Chew brand." It appears they are made in Nepal by farmers and only packaged by the brand in Washington
