LavaLockMetal Probe Port for BBQ Smoker Pit THERMOMETERS Probes and Controllers

I was getting errors from the temperature probes on my new offset smoker since the weight of the door was crushing the wires. I did a lot of searching and this was the best solution for my situation.I purchased two sets and placed one on each side of the cooking chamber.Each one can fit up to three probes if needed.

Easy to install and like that I can fit 3 probes. I also appreciate I can close when not in use.

This product didn't have any reviews, so I thought I would add one. I was looking to add a probe port to my offset smoker that is a 1/4" thick. I ran across this product while I was looking through the cable glands that everyone uses. This product is more along the lines of what I really wanted. Upon receiving the item, I immediately checked to see how many thermometer probes would fit. I was able to fit 3 Thermoworks Smoke Probes through the hole. I might have been able to force a 4th through, but I didn't want to take a chance on tearing up the rubber boot on the probe. I could have bought a larger cable gland, but I knew this had enough threads to go all the way through the 1/4" thick steel with no problem. So, I hope this review is helpful for anyone looking to purchase this product. If I find the need for more than 3 probes, I will just order another one of these probe ports.

Product really good. Only thing is that need to drill.

used it to run probes in mu masterbuilt smoker i can run 4 wires through dont see a need for anymore then this one highly recommend

I tried one of those cable gland ports and the opening was too small for even one ThermoPro probe. And because the threads don't go very deep, that type of port only works for single walled grills and smokers. My smoker is double walled so that won't do at all. This item seems to be the only alternative at this time.Pros: you can fit at least 4 probes through the port, first through the stretchy silicone grommet then the stainless steel port. It's a little extra work but no big deal.With the lock nut fully seated you can mount this on smokers with walls up to 5/8 inch total thickness.Cons: Comes with zero instructions and the dimensions listed on Amazon make no sense (they don't seem to know the difference between mm and cm). How big a hole to drill is up to you. I went with 20 mm which was a little small, but some light work with a dremel tool took care of that.If you lose the silicone grommet, good luck finding a replacement. Even if the seller is still in business you will probably need to buy the whole thing if you lose that piece.
