It's a great little thing to have on hand
I'm a speech-language pathology student and I got this for my phonetics class. It's a great little thing to have on hand, especially if you have a distinct regional accent like I do (New Orleans accent) and you sometimes pronounce vowels in ways that are non-standard for American English. When I transcribe stuff into IPA, sometimes it's difficult to decide what exact vowel I'm hearing, or if I'm just saying a vowel differently in my head (if that makes sense). This dictionary is helpful for mediating that problem, because it gives me a way to check my transcription against a standard pronunciation, which in turn improves my ability to hear these distinctions. The only thing I would say is that I wish they used a ligature diacritic for their diphthongs. I would love if they used other diacritics, too, and if they made one with diacritics I would buy it immediately.

No other dictionary focuses on accurate pronunciation as does this one.
I use this book to decipher correct pronunciations, not always easy to do with conventional dictionaries.

This was what improved my pronunciation
I came across this dictionary about 30 years ago and it totally changed my life. I learned how to pronounce words just like Americans and that allowed me to work for the U.S. Government. Eventually, I married an American woman and moved to the U.S. and I somehow lost this dictionary. Only now did I find it on Amazon and purchased it just because it means a lot to me. I don't need it anymore but I highly recommend it for anybody whose native language is not English. It doesn't help you with intonation or rhythm but that's not the intent. Great resource. Just remember that you need to pick up one of the regions and stick to it.
