Works good
For the price, this radio is great! Works good for everything I do with it. Easy to program using CHIRP. The range is what you would expect with this type of radio and the sound quality is very good. For the cost of this radio don't expect $400 features and performance but it excels at basic radio stuff.

Basically a dressed up UV-5R
I bought the camo version. Easy to program. Firmware version was exactly the same as a basic $19 UV-5R I bought from Radioddity a while back so the same Chirp file will work with both which is a nice feature.I didn't take pics of the power output into a dummy load but it's better than 4W on VHF and right at 4W on UHF. Easy to "unlock" with the three-finger procedure for access to GMRS freqs (which will also work fine with the factory ducky antenna). For aftermarket antennas, I'd recommend a Signal Stick (although they tend to be a bit heavy and, as a result, tipsy) or a thin Nagoya NA-24J to reach out to those repeaters. The one thing I didn't like is that, on this version, the LCD display kind of lags so when you're scanning the numbers all tend to run together. Thinking that was a one-off problem as none of my other Baofengs (one UV-5R and four UV-82HP) did that, I did an Amazon return (which I have to give super props to Amazon as to how easy this procedure is) to exchange it for another one. The replacement radio exhibited the same LCD display lag so I just loaded the factory Chirp file back into it and sent it back. Of course, I made sure the RF output was the same... I would've kept the higher powered unit, but they both were identical so, besides them all having the LCD display lag, at least there's some consistency there.Overall. It's a good looking radio. Identical to a regular UV-5R but if you want something in a different color or one that has a bit more bling to it, this is the one. That is, as long as you don't mind the weird LCD display lag. If you're not scanning and trying to look at the display, you may never notice it.Also, be advised, Radioddity doesn't sell individual batteries in your color so if you want a spare battery, it will have to be black.

Perfect handheld radio!
Bought this to use when I worked for Walmart and had it programmed to their specific station. This is great to use outside of a workplace as well and the outdoors. The distance capability is amazing as well!

A great value
For what these are they are very good radios. Don't believe that because I gave them five stars there is nothing finer. For the price these are effective low cost radios that you can hand out in an emergency and not worry about them breaking or getting lost. Make sure you do function check of all the buttons, knobs, speaker, transmit and receive functions when you get them. Their quality control is spotty sometimes but if they arrive working they should do the job for quite awhile.

I like it
Got my HAM license a while back and this is my first radio, it works well for me and I basically use it like a walkie talkie with my kids (on the appropriate licensed frequency, configured and locked so that I am essentially the station operator). With the original antennas, I get a little over 1mile of range in suburban city. When switched over to the nagoya stubby/rubber antenna, range drops a lot, down to about 1/2 mile at best.Functional as a basic HAM radio, I don't care about the HAM hobby much beyond being able to communicate with family/friends without needing to use phones in areas with poor reception (camping, hiking, caravan road trips, skiing, etc.)Would buy again, the form factor feels so nice.

Great value!
For the money you can’t go wrong with one of these radios. Has a lot of capabilities in a small package. Battery life is fair with factory battery, but that varies with usage, there’s a lot of after market and factory high capacity batteries available for longer life. Range can be extended or shortened with different size antennas.
