Great training tool
Great training tool, we use at home when we can't make it to the field. Works great for working on timing!

Practice mechanics and hand-eye coordination. Convenient.
Really well-built. Like the height adjustability. I can get my 30 minutes of swings in at home whenever I have time. good for kids too. Not the same as going to a real pitching machine in a cage of course, but it saves money and it's convenient to not have to go round up balls. I'll be mixing this with going to the cages.

Nice product that’s very sturdy and works well, but might take a couple of tries to get a good one
Update: After having and using this product for a while, I’ll say it’s still a great product with one caveat... you have to be able to hit the ball pretty solid and be able to hit, reset, and hit again fairly quickly. My daughter is now 8 and has used this fairly successfully, but at times she just gets frustrated and quits because if she’s a bit off and doesn’t the ball level, or has a bit of a mishit, you have to stop, unwind the ball from the pole and start over. So some days it can be the wrong tool for a small/younger player, but for older kids or adults it should be fine. Overall I think a tee/soft toss and net probably is a better tool, but the swingaway is certainly convenient and you can get a lot of reps in a short amount of time if you can hit it consistently with the right timing.**************This product is heavy duty, and should last for a long time, assuming you get one that’s not defective. Like several other reviewers here, I had to return the first one I ordered due to the top tube being bent into an oval shape either in manufacturing or shipping, thus making it impossible to attach the top tube to the bottom section. For some silly reason they send this in the box off the shelf that was obviously never meant to be sturdy enough as a shipping container for a 40lb item. Both of the boxes I received were beat up and partially open, as the glue just simply is not strong enough to survive being shipped express by a carrier... good thing it’s all one-piece and nothing can really be lost out the hole in the box. The return was fast and easy and I actually had the replacement in two days! Big thumbs up to Amazon for that! As I’ve said before, this is a heavy item (roughly 40 lbs) so it’s not something super easy for a kid to set up/take down without a parent. My daughter is 7 and it weights almost as much as she does, but I don’t mind helping her set it up since I like the fact its a sturdy piece of equipment that I don’t have to worry about falling over. Even though it comes fully assembled you’ll need some tools, as BOTH of mine had all of the bolts left extremely loose. The loose bolts make it very unwieldy at all times and a bit wiggly when set up, not to mention that it rattles quite a bit. 5 minutes, a couple of 17mm wrenches, and a ratchet was all it took tightening them up and now it’s solid and quiet. I have no idea why these aren’t tightened properly from the factory. The nuts are all nylock type with split lock washers, so they’ll stay on firm even if not completely tightened down (you need them to be able to pivot and allow the stand to fold). To those who reviewers who broke the cable, two things: (1) make sure they aren’t twisted prior to hitting as that’ll put unnecessary stress on the cables and wear them prematurely, (2) you can buy replacements if you end up wearing them out for around $25-30... so no need to buy (or trash as one reviewer said) the whole stand. I’m sure the mfr would replace them free if they break on a new unit, or just return it. I’ve had the non-stand version of this for years and used it with my older daughter when she played softball. It held up really well, even with an adult hitting on it regularly (me), so the cables shouldn’t be an issue unless they’re twisted or defective.

Best swing trainer for the money.
I've been through baseball with four sons, it's the best swing trainer for the money. Obviously, it does not simulate a pitched ball. However it can: be adjusted to different elevation pitches, help teach the batter to time their swing, to maintain eye contact with the ball, to hit a moving ball, to adjust the bat's swing path to the ball location, and it provides the feel of striking a real ball in the sweet part of the bat (and ball), it provides instant (satisfying) feedback whether the ball was struck well (or not), and it can be used alone. A little on the lightweight side of being stout, but it is intended to be portable. A hard-hitting teen could bring it down if not securely placed. UPDATE- I gave the original trainer I purchased to my son in law and purchased the new improved version. No longer a lightweight, It is now heavy duty and doesn't require attachment to the ground to use. Just set it up and swing away. While heavy, it came with a carry bag and folds up. Still by far in my opinion, the best device for the money. I recommend purchasing a home plate to place on the ground so that the ball strike can be visually connected with the plate location.

Loved it at first, not so much now.
Gave this to my daughter as a gift for making her club team. She used it maybe three times and the bottom rung that held the line on snapped off. Now it’s useless. She loved it when she used it, but obviously now she can’t. Very disappointed, and now I am second-guessing anything from Sklz.

Our favorite training aid
The media could not be loaded. My 12 y/o son has been using the hit away trainer for about a week. He loves it! His normal routine now is to take 100 swings on this almost everyday... you can change elevation... work inside, outside... and you get immediate feedback on if you had a decent hit or not. It’s a good product and seems well designed. The point contact is already showing some wear, so I’ll keep an eye on that, but over all... I really like it.Edit: the contact point has a plastic piece that goes into the black part. That plastic piece came out and I couldn’t get it to go back in. I called SKLZ and they replaced the piece immediately.

Great training aid
Bought this for my 9 year old son. It worked so good that nearly his whole team would use it when I brought it to games. It’s really good at working their swing and accuracy. It’s probably been hit a few thousand times in the short few months I’ve had it and shows no signs of wearing out.

Buen Producto

Pretty darn good
Bought for my grandaughters in 2019, 3 summers later its been hit hundreds if not thousands of times. Oldest plays AAA and really smacks it now. Both her dad and I tee off on it now and then ever since I bought it to show how to hit. I'm 250 lbs and can really rock it. No problems in 3 years, didn't give it 5 stars at every level as the softball size I purchased separately doesn't seem to work as well as the hardball it comes with, packing bag was done first year.
