It works as a direct replacement for the dead CR2430.
This is the first time I've ever purchased this particular size battery. It works as a backup battery in my alarm clock. I have no idea how long they will last. The printed "Use by" year on the package is 2031. These batteries are not made in Japan. The package says Made in PRC (i.e. People's Republic of China).

Good replacement battery at good price
Needed replacement battery for kitchen scale. Couldn't find this size battery in stores. The price for these is much lower than typical prices at stores. Battery came quickly, fit accurately.Still working after 3 months of use. Even if the battery life is short, there are still four more batteries to use.
