UPDATE! You know, I'm really starting to like this Caulking Gun.
An UPDATE!The more I use this caulking gun the more I appreciate it.It is a quality tool and has laid down a bunch of caulk/chinking in the last few days.Despite having to modify the bulk loading plate with an O-Ring, I am getting the hang of it andhaving success. Here is a tip:The leather cup washers are not "seasoned" when new... let them soak in oil for a few hours or overnight prior to using them. Don't overly wipe the excess off as you re-assemble (only the excess on the product side) and put a thin layer of oil on the three flat washers to insure a seal between components. Without a cap or nozzle, cycle the drive rod a couple times back and forth allowing a film of oil to be applied into the barrel. Prior to the next bulk loading, again wipe off excess oil on the product side washer/nose assembly.AND... when you clean up your gun at the end of the day, disassemble and gently wipe the leather washers free of product and immediately put them to soak in oil... DO NOT WASH in a hot water/soap solution as this depletes the oil that is already in them.In closing, following the tips above will improve and maintain good suction and expedite bulk loading. Changing from 3 to 4 Stars (I'd give 4.5 if I could). BTW, I still dislike the bulk loading plate and its shortcomings (i.e. the leather washer and threaded coupling). And Yes, I would buy/recommend this tool. However, I would opt for the new updated bulk loading plate from Albion (Amazon doesn't seem to have it available). It is equipped with a rubber slip on coupling device instead of the threaded/gasket affair (Hmmmm, imagine that).Previous rating and comments:Right out of the box, the quick-start reference Link to a video to show operation and maintenance was outdated and directed me to a totally unrelated website.I searched until I finally found an Albion employee demonstration on youtube... a saving grace. The instruction manual shows information about EVERY Albion product and not specific to the product I purchased. Until you find it buried in the back, you are sucking wind. Poorly documented.Let's talk about the design: 1) LEATHER WASHERS Throughout!?! In this era of modern materials, WHY? Applied material bypasses the washers, allows air bypass when drawing product from a bulk container, and must be soaked in motor oil during cleanup and maintenance.2) When bulk loading, all I can say is "Good Luck". I'm a patient guy, but I got so frustrated... my wife was worried I was going to blow my own gasket. Oh, and you know the material of choice, Leather? Well, that is used as a gasket in the bulk loading plate as well... it initially was sucked up with the product as I tried to load the dispenser. I have tried applying downward pressure while "drawing" the product in (it's sort of like drawing medicine into a syringe), thinning the product, exchanging the leather for a O-Ring and modified nozzle to hold it in place once the gun is threaded into the plate, manually drawing in product and then running the "gun" and product back into the bulk container with a crack on the seal to eliminate air pockets. My advice, think SLOW when drawing in product and consider the volume and consistency of the material you are trying to suck in. I have successfully loaded once out of twenty attempts with the usual result of loading to about 2/3 capacity.3) The motor reverses each time you stop application in an attempt to limit excess product from oozing out of the nozzle... that doesn't work correctly either. What's good about the product? The electric/electronics are good with the exception that the battery pack just sort of rests on the charger with no positive "Latching in". My first attempt to charge indicated that I had a faulty battery with flashing lights and all.I honestly think preloaded "sausage" type tubes would be one alternative to bulk loading that would relieve a majority of frustration as the unit DOES Function in a reasonable manner once it is loaded.Would I spend $500+ again for this unit? Not on your life. It doesn't even come with a cleaning brush or a sample of disposable nozzles. Oh and BTW, the brass wire brush you need, to clean this beast, is an additional $41.Save your money and by a traditional large capacity caulking gun.

Thing is nice! Helped greatly with chinking
Ordered this to apply to chinking, old stuff is starting to crack and pull away. Really helped would order again nicely built, smooth easy pull on the handle; ran with the traffic cone style tip cut open pretty good. Note for cleanup, try not to take tube completely off, it's tricky to get it back over that leather piston plunger

Horrible Support
Mine came, directly from the Albion Engineering store on Amazon, without any of the parts that go along with it. No nozzles, no adaptor, no ring cap. Messaged Albion only for their President to send a condescending message about how he wouldn't give me anything for free. I didn't ask for anything for free...I actually just asked for the part numbers to make sure I could find the right things that would work. I SHOULD HAVE asked for them for free, but didn't.Anyway, $60 later I have everything I need on order bringing my cost to $160 instead of $100. I definitely will go out of my way to make sure I never use any Albion products again.

did the job, well designed
This is a well designed tool, unlike the other junk on the market. It worked well for me to fill in stone foundation gaps with type S mortar. Needed a little bit of patience but it did work well and it is also a quality engineered product.Wish if there is an air driven similar tool
