Excellent for small space
Excellent to keep humidity out of a vehicle interior when parked outside and not driven much. In rainy season I need to dump contents about once a month. Noise is almost non-existent. Green light will change to yellow when container is full and unit shuts off. Easy to use - place in location, plug in and turn on. Had an exact model from a different manufacturer but it died after 8 years in use.

Does The Job for 138 ft² Bedroom
Context of my use: - received June 7, 2024, - I use it in my bedroom which is roughly 138 ft² - My bedroom has an ac window unit that I run constantly when I am in the room (5:30pm-6:40am) Before I got this product, I would wake up and I feel wet, sticky, unpleasant. With this little dehumidifier, I don’t wake up that way anymore. One morning I woke up to that again and saw that the unit was full and it had turned off sometime during the night. I cursed myself for not noticing the previous night and emptying before it got to max capacity. But it just made me realize how effective this thing has been. The review: The machine is very quiet, and I only hear anything small hum when I turn everything else off in the room - and even then it’s barely audible. I think that it removes enough moisture that I don’t feel icky. Does it remove all the moisture in the room? Not by a long shot. Do we want that? No. So this guy works for what I need. If I were to want to upgrade, I might do after a year because I would want to know how it works in the winter as well. But for a starter - this works fantastically. The tank size is good, especially for the size of the entire machine. It’s very easy to take out, empty, and reinsert. During the hotter times, I found myself having to empty it more frequently than I thought I would, I think every couple days I need to. I think this is because of how much moisture is in my room- which I’m thankful he’s doing his job well! Since it has gotten cooler again, I have had to empty it a little less. Usually I’ll notice the tank getting pretty full and empty it proactively, but there are times when I see it’s shut off so I do it then. I’m glad that it auto shuts off so that it doesn’t overfill. I do wish that there was more indication that it turned off such as a red blinking light or a little noise. But that’s just a personal preference for my next upgrade. Overall I’m very pleased with this purchase so far, which is only a couple month use. It fit my needs exactly, and I will update if something goes wrong or one year passes, whichever comes first. This product might not be for you depending on your room size, how much liquid you want to remove from the air, and the season; but for my needs it fits the bill perfectly.

Very good, could be better, but overall a respectable product worth buying.
Surprisingly quiet, but they could have made it a lot quieter. It is on par with most PCs and Laptops, but nothing like Fractal or Noctua computer fan quiet. It uses 0 watts when it isn't on, and at most 25 watts when it is running (steadily fluxuates between 24-25 watts) So it will consume as much power as 3 average LED light bulbs, or <1/2 as much power as a 60 watt incandescent bulb. I question its ability to work in an 1,000 square foot area, but it did a reasonably nice job in a 150 square foot basement bedroom running 24 hours a day. It needed to be emptied once every 3 days. It won't work as effectively as a large 50 pint dehumidifier in the same space, but it won't be as loud, and it won't heat up the room. A large dehumidifier in a 150 sq/ft bedroom will heat the room up by about 10*F without an open window and the door closed. With this smaller dehumidifier, that isn't the case, and it is enough to combat a recurring source of moisture in the atmosphere. In my case, it was a occupant who always had towels drying in his room, that made the room feel like a shower, and the mini fridge was also leaking without me knowing. So I fixed the fridge and got a drip pan for it, and used the dehumidifier to combat anything evaporating into the atmosphere. All in all it worked nicely, and I'd be happy to one of these for any room under 200 sq/ft. It might work for "up to" 1,000 sq/ft in a sealed environment without foot traffic or recurring problems. But not for a space frequently accessed. If I stored a car in a shed in florida and didn't drive it for the entire warm season, I'd be happy to let this thing chug along and keep the car and shed fresh. The biggest con with it is that it doesn't have an option to connect a hose, which is ok. It isn't difficult to modify one into it. And they could have done a better job with the quality of the fan.

Tiny but effective
I bought a like-new one to save a bit of money and am so happy I did. The box arrived looking like someone had kicked a field goal with it, but despite the rough travels this little dehumidifier has been through, it still performs perfectly. Our bathroom is secluded from the rest of the house, so even though we have a whole-house dehumidifier, we needed a backup one for this area. It is responsible for removing moisture from a 2000 cubic foot area and does so efficiently and quietly. After roughly 5 showers or baths, the tank reaches capacity and needs to be emptied. This is no big deal and takes maybe 15 seconds to complete. I absolutely love this thing. We have noticed the bathroom smelling fresher and that sticky feeling no longer hovers in the air after showers.

While this sounds great my other dehumidifier pulled that same amount in 4 ...
I had high hopes with this product after reading the positive reviews. However after 3 days I am returning the unit. In those 3 days, I had it running 24 hours a day in my small RV bathroom. In that time I got just over 3/4 cup of water. I ran a larger dehumidifier in the bathroom for 4 hours and got 2 cups of water. I also want to point out that we took multiple showers during the 3 days of the small humidifier but none during the 4 hours of the other dehumidifier. When you run the numbers over a week's time this unit should pull around 1 3/4 to 2 cups over 7 days. While this sounds great my other dehumidifier pulled that same amount in 4 hours. Obviously I have a lot of water in this room (as I keep a very close eye on my humidity) and obviously my other dehumidifier is much bigger, louder and stronger. However what I care about is a product that works. I need a product that keeps the walls dry and this failed miserably (even in a very tiny room 5 x 6 1/2 x 8). This unit is good for someone who does not have a humidity problem and wants a quiet (yes its very quiet) product that will make the air just a tiny bit dryer. This is not a product for someone that needs a dehumidifier to keep the walls from getting moisture damage. I gave this unit 1 star because I used it for exactly what they described it should be used for and it just does not have enough power to do what the job they describes it will. I don't even know how this unit could have done some of the things other people have claimed considering my room is as small as it gets and is obviously very wet as evidenced by the 2 cups I pulled in 4 hours. I hate to say it but this might be one of those items with false reviews paid for by the company to boost sales. The picture shows water pulled from this dehumidifier in 3 days on the right (3/4 cup). The 2 cups on the left came from my other dehumidifier in just 4 hours.

Good design, correctable flaws
First off this device is *very well designed*, is quiet, and it really works. It only draws 22 watts, so as you can imagine it's not going to dry out your whole house but left on for a while in a small room it really takes a lot of water out of the air. Peltier devices like this work by moving heat from the cool side to the warm side, but the cool side can only be a certain amount lower temperature than the hot side. So if the hot side is 70 the cool side might be 40. But if the hot side is 80 the cool side will only be 50. So it's critical to keep the hot side from getting too hot, which this device does: - The hot side heatsink is significantly larger so that it can get rid of the heat faster - The air travels from the cool heatsink through a sealed channel past the hot side, so the 'waste' cool air helps cool the hot side, making the device more efficient - The condensed water drops through a narrow hole into an otherwise sealed chamber, so it doesn't evaporate back out again as fast - The air flows down through the cold heatsink and up through the hot side, working with convection instead of against it. BUT there was one problem... mine started making a loud rattling noise after using it a few times. I took it apart, and it looks like the cause is an H shaped widget coming out the back and sitting flush with the fan. It looks like the slightest bad tolerance in the construction causes this H plastic piece to grind against the fan, making the loud rattle and causing the fan to wear out sooner. I believe this piece is there to help guide the air, or maybe to help in shipping... given the rest of the design it probably has some useful purpose. Anyway I took it apart and with some pliers simply broke off this 'H' piece and now it is back to almost completely silent operation (no grinding) and it still works just as well as far as I can tell. This was moderately difficult as there are four screws in deep holes in the back, two screws on the bottom, and four more screws inside holding the main housing in place. Also, each part is attached to the other by wires making it moderately difficult to get to this 'H' piece. I can't vouch for this other than to say it worked for me, but if yours is loud and you are handy with a screwdriver you might consider trying it.

Too humid? You need one of these!
My search for a simple, low cost dehumidifier brought me here! I started out with one to place out in our spare car to control the humidity. It worked better than I thought it would, so now I have 4 of these. one in each vehicle & one in my garage office/shop/computer lab. :) The best price I could find was here on Amazon! The pros: + It may seem expensive, but considering the damage too much moisture can cause, it's resonable & free shipping is included. + Low power use. + Very quiet operation. + No maintenance, other than emptying the water. It even shuts off & signals (LED lights) when that's needed! The cons: - It may have been my fault? The water catch tank has to be lined up correctly, before it's pushed back into the dehumidifier. If it's not lined up, the guide rail on the tank will break off. The tank will still be 100% functional, but it can be a bit more difficult to line-up after the guide rail is broken off. I only did this on the first one, being more careful after the mishap. :) - We had a fan failure in one of our 6 dehumidifiers. See the March 31, 2014 update below. :( ► Purchase history: I bought the first one of these in 2010, three in 2011 & I just bought another one to remove excess moisture from a problem area. I've had "zero" problems with any of the previous units & I expect this one to be 100% trouble free. :) ► Notes: ▪ The operation of this dehumidifier can be improved by simply removing the restrictive plastic screen on the fan exhaust. Just pull off the large exhaust grille located on top, then pop off the attached grille with the small holes. Reattach the large grille & that's it! ▪ Some reviewers have been concerned with the wall wart... power transformer getting very warm to hot. They do get very warm... not sure I'd say hot. None of our 6 units have had any problems with the power transformer overheating. ► Update - November 30, 2013 I received my 6th one of these today! The previous 5 are all working perfectly, in our vehicles & storage out building. Other than emptying the tank when it's full, no other maintenance has been required. ► Update - March 31, 2014 - repair required! :( ▪ We have 6 of these now & one has finally required a repair. #5 (I numbered them + when they were purchased), which was purchased here on Amazon in November of 2012, starting making a strange noise? It was the fan! ▪ This dehumidifier uses a standard 80x80x25mm, 12V .021A computer fan. It doesn't say on the label, so I'm going to assume its a lower cost (quality) sleeve bearing fan. A ball bearing fan would have lasted longer, but would cost the manufacturer more. ▪ The disassemble was VERY easy... a pleasant surprise, requiring only a thin shaft #1 Phillips screw driver. If you have the skills, this repair cost is under $5, less if you happen to have a "hoarded"... saved computer fan & takes perhaps 15 minutes. :) Because of the fan failure in less then 2 years + the lower quality fan that was installed by the manufacturer, I've dropped my product rating to 3 out of 5 stars. :( ► Update - November 9, 2014 ▪ Today after I emptied the water tank on dehumidifier #6, the fan made a loud noise when I turned it on. The noise was familiar, so I knew the fan was bad. ▪ I'd replaced a fan previously on dehumidifier #5, so the repair was VERY easy! In addition, I had a spare fan that I'd purchased... just in case. I just ordered 3 more fans off eBay, $4 each, so I'm ready for the next failure! :) ▪ This dehumidifier was purchased exactly one year ago! I installed a higher quality ball bearing fan, so here's hoping it lasts longer than one year!
