The Secret Garden: Puffin Clothbound
It's a beautiful copy of the children's classic, The Secret Garden. The book is clothbound. With glue binding, not sewn. It comes with a red ribbon book marker. What I don't like is the publisher puts a barcode sticker at the back of the book. When you peel the sticker off, it also removes part of the gold and black prints on the design. It also leaves a darker rectangular patch on the cloth cover.

A book full of life. A must read!
This novel got me me into thinking, if it was possible for a child of unfavourable disposition and health to get any better and live life so willingly in a forthright manner, I would plant a thousand Secret Gardens in every corner of the world. There would be no sickness, or suffering ever! But on a second note I think maybe there really are a thousand Secret Gardens already and only because it must be a secret, no one can tell. All we need is to believe in 'magic' to uncover them and make them burst forth with energy and spirit that it will become so hard not to live. This book makes me believe there is magic, even as an adult - not of fairylands or elves but of a kind which can be made quite possible in today's world. There's no better way to end this decade. Cheers Frances H. Brunett!

Another Great by MinaLima
I started collecting this series of books only because Harper brought out The Little Mermaid and the most recent The Secret Garden, so once I knew that these where coming out I had to be the proud owner of the whole set, which now total five in all. Peter Pan, Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast are all available to buy and illustrated by Minalima. The latest book I have to say is beautiful and I am not disappointed with my puchase. It is a hardback cloth outer cover in gold, red and green, the spine has the key to the garden, depicted on it and the Robin on the back. The end pages have small green ivy leaves inside. There are many interactive elements, but not as many turning wheels as other books in the series, this does not detract from the fun and interest of what these elements bring to the story. A must buy if you have the others or are looking for a more unusual copy of this book.

The Most Satisfying Children's Book I Know
This particular edition of The Secret Garden was published in 1983. The cover has a wipe clean canvas texture. The pages, although smooth, are a tad thin so there is some see through of text. I like the illustrations by Stephen Lavin. They are only pen and ink line sketches but they are evocative and skilful. It's a shame they only occur at the head of each chapter and some are repeated. There is an introduction by Susan Hill in which she quotes another writer who refers to The Secret Garden as being 'the most satisfying children's book I know' She agrees and so do I. And it is more than a children's book. I was given a copy of the 1958 Puffin edition in 1963 when the first BBC adaptation of the story was being broadcast. I was captivated by the story then and I am reading it again now, in my middle sixties and I still find it compelling.

Better than I expected
I am very pleased with my purchase. First of all, I received this item before I expected, that's fabulous!!! Secondly, it's in a very good condition and thirdly, the cover it surprised me, because I expected the one showed in the picture and in fact the one I received it's a very lovely one. I felt in love at the first glance. I really love it! I would like to thank to the seller Countryhouselibrary!
