quite good. There are things I was aware of and quite confirming, it's encouraging for definitely the beginners, it can help you to watch for pitfalls. It's simple to read and can read through quite quickly. It might be best if you really want to make the most of it is read a chapter and consider and think how it applies to your life as you step out to give words or to receive words. It's not necessarily devotional but it might be more effective that way. I think it helps not just those who want to operate the prophetic but to help those who are receiving prophetic ministry to be gracious and understanding. It's a gift and must be exercised and only as those who operate it mature will they be able to be much more accurate, even the well seasoned ones have missed it before. For those who say a prophet should be 100% accurate or else they are false I think this covers it fairly well, but if one is just too critical and not understanding the grace and mercy of God allotted to us today can miss a great blessing on this type of ministry.

What is most memorable to me about this book is the emphasis on the prophet's need for humility. This Book is a quick, easy read, but don't let that fool you. It is deep! I recommend it for anyone seeking to learn more about the Spiritual gift of prophesy.

I enjoyed how simply the gift of prophecy was illustrated and explained by this author. "Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophesy" (1 Corinthians 14:1) After desiring this gift and asking the Spirit for it (as the scripture is an admonition to all believers), it's time to tune in and step out. This "how to" gives you some practical understanding and confidence. This gift is so very beautiful and powerful in encouraging others!

This helpful book is for those who are interested in simply learning more about the prophetic gift or are aware they have a prophetic gift and are asking, "Now what?"What I appreciate most about this book is what I appreciate most about Dr. Deere: the focus is ever on Jesus. The gift of prophecy, therefore, is only the focus of this book in as much as it is a tool used to bring glory to the Son.

There's book is a model of clear teaching, proper application of scripture, and the judicious and engaging use of illustrations. It's an easy, yet profound introduction to the subject of current day prophetic ministry. Even if prophecy is not a big interest of yours there is enough wisdom here about relating to God to make it worth your while.

Awesome, practical, balanced, scholarly, warm, positive, handbook on developing the gift of prophecy; from a former fundamentalist scholar/professor (OT; Dallas Seminary). Must reading if God has gifted you in the prophetic, or you want to pursue the gift; with case studies, personal experiences, insights Dr. Deere got from being up close to heavy-weight and life-long prophetic persons. Shows how to activate and start developing in the prophetic without becoming offensive, weird, intrusive, negative, out of control, etc. Any church would enjoy having the prophetically-gifted in their midst if Deere's inspired guidelines were followed. You will want to read this again and again to ensure you remain grounded as you pursue this gift of prophecy. Jack is one of my all-time favorite teachers and he does not disappoint in this "beginners" guide. There is great wisdom and depth is this book and I am certain you will be grateful you took the time to read it.

I highly recommend this book to any individual or pastor. It offers sound, biblical teaching and guidance about the gift and ministry of prophecy. He has decades of experience in his own ministry as well as helping others. It is both pro-prophecy, but very balanced and healthy. The stories are also very helpful. Years ago I was very helped by his earlier books, Surprised by the Power of the Spirit and Surprised by the Voice of God, and I was glad to see this more recent book after walking in these gifts for a long time.

This book introduces the reader to a most demanding and rewarding aspect of the Christian ministry which is sometimes neglected in Christian circles.

Good book, although not life changing for me. I've had a lot of issues in my life at that time and was looking for help in various Christian literature; however, I have found little help if any at all.

Great book! It is really encouraging and gives good ideas and encouragement how to start prophetic ministry in a congregation or small group.

This has been an amazing read. Highly recommended for anyone who wishes to take their walk with the Lord to a higher level. Reading thos book helped me to self-reflect in a meaningful way.
