Must be a Foo Fan
Bought this for my husband who is a huge Foo fan, and he loved it. My 14 year old daughter read it. She loves Foo Fighters and Dave Grohl, but said it had a lot of details that didn't really have to do with Dave Grohl. She said it focused a lot on other bands and music. Her summation was that if you really love the Foo Fighters or Dave Grohl, it's worth slogging through the extraneous stuff to get to the info on Dave.

Hope you're a history buff.
The information about Dave Grohl was very interesting. However, I did not care to know the history of the town he was born in or grow up in, especially all the way back to, practically, its settlment by Europeans. I would rather have read more about Dave or Nirvana or the Foo Fighters. Of course, if you're a history buff you may like it even more.

peeked inside
Haven't read it yet but browsed through it and it looks good. A lot of information on Nirvana and Dave starting the Foo Fighters.

Great book
Worth a read, didn't know he had been drumming for that long. Found a few more bands that I didn't know.

Pretty Good First Look at Dave Grohl
I read this book because I'm interested in Dave Grohl's personality and talent. What influences shaped the zany persona of videos and what causes him to write the trademark "slow & soft to mind-blowing cacophony" progression of many Foo Fighter songs? Before reading this I didn't know much about him at all, so anything was welcome. There isn't all that much of a personal nature here because Dave Grohl was not interviewed. Still, what is presented is well done and seems well documented and competently written. Overall I'd recommend this book to anyone who doesn't know anything about Dave Grohl or the history of Nirvana and grunge.

insomnia cure !
Iam not one to do book reviews usually but this book needed one.As stated by other reviewers there is to much irrelevent history discussed in this book.I dont need to know drawn out details about his town, dog breeders ,aunt, neighbors etc.etc. I think the dave grohl story is in here somewhere ,its just there is to much other boring stuff to read through to get to that story.I have been a foo fighters fan since there first album and own all of there cd's, dvd's and have seen them live numerous times,"IAM A HUGE FAN'.In the end i couldn't even finish reading this book. The only positive to come from any of this is that my 3 year old foo figther loving son, loved the pictures in the book!

If you want american punk music history or useless descriptions of towns, buy this book
but if you want to read stories of Grohl's life, you are on the wrong way. Most of the time very useless.
