Hopeless.
This is a very small mix and didn't work with my laptop but I had already thrown the packaging away...otherwise I would have returned it.

Overpriced, nasty, cheap Chinese tat
It has never worked, tried everything to get PC to recognise it as a mic to no avail, plenty of other microphones are picked up no bother. Either the product is broken or poorly designed. £16 is a joke for what this is. If i had the packaging I would return it.

Nicely made, performs well
AmazonBasics Lapel Microphone Omnidirectional MicThis will be ideal for anyone who is involved in podcasts or creating online videos or similar. The microphone is quite small, it can be almost invisible if discreetly placed. On the microphone body is a spring clip for securing this to clothing, ideally to a shirt collar, tie or pocket. The cable is quite long at 1.6 metres in length. It is a bit of an encumbrance if attached to a phone whilst holding it, but is the ideal length if using the phone hands free whilst chatting online or recording a video. The quality of this microphone is good, it appears to be quite well made. Recorded sound quality is crisp and clear, although I haven't tried this in a noisy environment yet.I did find the spring loaded clip to be quite hard to open. I have a strong grip, but for those with weaker hands they may struggle to open it?Apart from the clip, which may well have just been unique to the microphone that I received? I do feel that at £16.65 this is good value for money.CONTENTS:1 x Lapel Microphone1 x User GuideThank you for reading my review, I hope you have found it helpful.

Lapel mic
I have to confess to not actually having used this yet. I got it as I've started making videos for posting on YouTube, and - despite having numerous microphones already - I don't have anything quite as small and unobtrusive as this, or as light and apparel-friendly. It seems well enough built, for this sort of mass produced plastic techno-tat that is so ubiquitous nowadays. It's clearly a budget item, however, and not the Rolls Royce of lapel mic's. But nevertheless it looks and feels fit for purpose. I'll be back to amend this review as and when I start actually using it.

Great microphone
Brilliant little microphone.Packaged in a cardboard box with the microphone centered for protection.Included is the microphone, manual and example sheet.Extremely easy to set up, simply plug it in and it's ready to use! This microphone has roughly 155cm length of wire which is almost certainly enough length from your phone in your lap, or from your pocket.Via the microphone through my phone, I made a few phone calls and two video chats to test the quality.I was understood completely. In the phone calls, people didnt even realise I wasnt next to the phone, the quality was perfect. There was no crispiness, no echoes, nothing to hear but my voice, not much background noise at all, fantastic.I would absolutely recommend this microphone. A little bit gutted it has no ear piece but sometimes this really isnt a necessity. If you're simply looking for a microphone itself and happy to use loudspeaker, this is brilliant for the job.

Good basic clip-on lapel microphone
The AmazonBasics Omni-directional Lapel Mic works well and has good sensitivity, sufficient to produce clear and undistorted speech. I tested it with laptop and smart-phones, all were happy with it. However, it did not make connection with my desktop machine, I guess the trrs mic connection on that is to the other standard. The spit-gag seems to keep out most of the breathing, but it is too easy to lose it, and my spares are a fraction too big to stay on without a small elastic band.It has the microphone connected on the usual last ring and sleeve, with the headphone’s tip and first ring left open circuit. But be aware that the sleeve and ring may have connections reversed on different phones and laptops or desktops. I was lucky my laptop and phones met the CTIA standard where the sleeve is the mic signal and the second ring is the common ground. The detachable croc-clip is strong enough not to be easily knocked off, but its gape is really only wide enough for a shirt thickness and not a suit lapel. At 1.6m the lead is long enough to reach around one to a hidden recorder or transmitter, and not so long as to be inconvenient. It is worth examining the rest of the market for value as there is a lot of competition for generic mics almost identical to this one.
