EAG Tire Carrier for OEM Tail Gate Compatible with 07-18 Wrangler JK

Easy to install and built very strong great product.

This is a well built tire mount. Very sturdy. I had the exact same issues as Grampa Brian. I did contact the seller about the missing bolts, and I received them via UPS ground a few days later. Also as Grampa Brian said, the hole in the plate that mounts on the tailgate "should" accommodate leaving the baffle installed, but the hole is too small. I may try cutting out the hole bigger to keep the baffle. I have a hard top, and need the pressure relief. I also had to grind one bolt for the heim joint bracket. Also, the instructions are a bit misleading. Don't tighten the first hinge bolts until you line up the rest of the hinge with the tailgate. Not a big issue, but saves you having to do it twice. You will require a method for mounting third brake light as there isn't any included adapter. The actual tire mount has multiple mounting points to fit most tire/rim choices.I do recommend this in spite of these small shortcomings.

It wasn't really difficult to install. It didn't come with any instructions. I had to modify one bolt because it didn't fit where the adjustable brackets mount. I also had to modify one of the rings on top of the hinges because it wouldn't meet up with the mating dowel. I've had it on for a week or so and it's already rusting. I wouldn't buy this one if I could do it over again. I love the look but the weld quality is sub par the powder coating is shotty.**** UPDATE AFTER A YEAR****THIS THING UNBELIEVABLY SHAKES! I am looking to replace it. The powder coat isn't holding up. The hinges are rusting and constantly come loose. I only put a 35" tire on it.

Although this carrier is sturdy and held my 85lb 35in tire, no cracking of door near hinges like other HD carriers, it is extremely noisy! Rattles constantly and the 5th tire bounces around on paved roads in the rear view mirror. I ended up with a Rugged Ridge carrier instead and it is just as silent as OEM. Think twice about this one. We had to have the stereo up high to cover all the noise coming from the back end.

Top bracket on the swing arm of the hinge is completely broken off hanging on by one bolt. Also the bolts that were provided from EAG sheared off. I would suggest using the original factory bolts.

Product seems to be of good quality. Directions were for a slightly different setup but usable. As others have stated plan on buying more bolts and dont plan on any customer service.

First of all for, and I can’t stress enough, considering this is a fraction of big name tire carriers it is worth the money. That being said their are some thing that need to be addressed. When installing the plate in replacement of the oem tire carrier their is a big hole in the middle of it that the moisture barrier does not fit in. My mend to this was getting a peice of plastic and gasket maker and sealed both sides so no moisture could get in. Second is under the oem hinges the paint in essentially not their, leaving exposed metal. My solution was getting black paint taping off the area where the hinges go and painting it to eliminate any exposed metal. Overall this seems a lot sturdier especially with a larger tire and took about 4 hours overall to install with taking my time.
